Job description

Description and Functions Open Until Filled GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Do you enjoy museums, history, or both. If you have a passion and interest in both museum work and history, especially Wyoming history, spending your summer working for the Historic Governors' Mansion might be the perfect position for you. As the official residence for the Governor and their families from 1905 until 1976, the Historic Governors' Mansion has an incredible story to tell and is a key piece of downtown Cheyenne.

The employment season is typically from mid-April to the end of September. Some seasonal positions may begin earlier in the year and/or extend longer into the fall. These are part-time seasonal positions, up to 32 hours a week.

Docents/Fee/Maintenance Present interpretive programs about the history of the Mansion. Lead school tours and other institutional tours when needed. Assist and/or lead public demonstrations on various features of the historic site.

Assist with research as needed for interpretive programs, exhibits, and artifact collections. Perform opening and closing duties. Performing basic housekeeping duties such as dusting, vacuuming, and general cleaning.

Perform basic lawn and yard maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned and required. Qualifications PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: Preference will be given to applicants who are professional while providing excellent customer service.

**Must have a valid driver's license. **Must be at least 16 years of age. KNOWLEDGE: Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks.

Good interpersonal skills allowing the ability to interact with visitors from around the world. Willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day. Excellent communication/public speaking skills and writing skills.

Must possess excellent customer service skills. Ability to manage and complete multiple projects with variable timelines and scopes of work. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None - See "Preferences" Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.

Must be able to climb stairs.
