We specialize in serving Veterans by reducing wait times for them to gain access to disability screens and separation health assessments required by the Veteran Affairs (VA) to receive benefits. In addition to our core work with the VA, Trusted Medical holds multiple government contracts nationwide , allowing our providers to also participate in occupational health services for their applicants and employees. This includes pre-employment screenings, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and other health assessments that support a wide range of government agencies.
Job Description
The Optometrist will perform an in-person assessment with the Veterans to complete the required Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) for submission to VA for eligibility determination. The Optometrist will be responsible for providing complete high quality optometric/vision care services to patients and performing evaluation of the eyes and provide medical opinions.
Duties include the following.
  • Provide vision examinations
  • Perform exams/tests on all applicable ophthalmologic equipment to assess claims
  • Maintains compliance with all current organizational, state, and federal regulations pertaining to Optometry job specifications
  • Prepare for and deliver exceptional patient handling and care during all interactions
  • Complete and submit all required documentation promptly and completely, including DBQs in the required format
  • Performs all duties and tasks as assigned by management
Education/Experience:
Active, uninterrupted, unincumbered licensure: Optometry (required), will consider ophthalmology license
Bachelor's degree in associated field with a 4-year Doctor of Optometry degree
Minimum one year of active experience in performing optometric exams preferred
Technological Skills:
  • Experienced in one or more major Electronic Health Records
  • Solid knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams)
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to initiate and follow through on work independently
  • Proven ability to be prompt, punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Proven ability to establish and foster significant relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal and customer relationship and management skills
  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, discrete, resourceful, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and work collaboratively in a team environment
