Senior Contracts Manager – Government Programs
Position Summary
The Senior Contracts Manager serves as a strategic business partner responsible for the full lifecycle management of assigned government contracts and subcontracts. This role provides expert guidance on contract strategy, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and pricing analysis in support of DoD programs. The ideal candidate brings deep FAR/DFARS expertise, strong government audit experience, and the ability to drive cross-functional alignment while protecting company interests and maximizing financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end contract lifecycle management, including proposal review, negotiation, execution, administration, modification, and closeout of government contracts and subcontracts.
• Serve as the primary contracts advisor to internal stakeholders, providing authoritative interpretation of contractual terms, regulatory requirements, and compliance obligations.
• Negotiate contract terms and conditions to mitigate risk, reduce operational burden, and support financial objectives.
• Conduct detailed pricing and cost analysis for government proposals, ensuring compliance with FAR/DFARS and audit readiness standards.
• Partner with Finance, Program Management, Logistics, and Executive Leadership to align contract strategy with business and mission objectives.
• Coordinate and lead cross-functional meetings to resolve contractual issues, performance risks, and compliance matters.
• Manage and review contract modifications, ensuring timely communication of changes, funding updates, and regulatory notices to impacted teams.
• Ensure all internal reviews and approvals are obtained before contract execution in accordance with company policy and delegated authority.
• Interface with government representatives, including Contracting Officers, DCMA, and DCAA, to support audits, inquiries, and negotiations.
• Maintain working knowledge of logistics goals, mission requirements, and program objectives to ensure contractual alignment with operational execution.
• Develop and maintain compliant contract documentation, templates, and processes to strengthen internal controls and audit readiness.
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Business, Law, Public Administration, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience managing DoD contracts and subcontracts.
• Demonstrated expertise in FAR, DFARS, and government procurement regulations.
• Experience supporting DCAA audits and working directly with DCMA.
• Strong knowledge of cost proposals, pricing strategies, and government contracting compliance.
• Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate independently while advising senior leadership on complex contractual matters.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting complex DoD programs, IDIQ vehicles, or multi-contract portfolios.
• Background in logistics or mission-critical support programs.
• Professional certifications (e.g., NCMA CPCM, CFCM, or equivalent).
