Job description

FOIA Attorney Specialist – Federal Government - ON-SITE Washington, DC SW


Pat Taylor and Associates, Inc. is recruiting for an experienced FOIA Attorney for the Privacy office of one of our federal government agency clients.

We are looking for a FOIA specialist with at least 3 years of recent FOIA experience reviewing and responding to FOIA requests, preferably for a federal government agency.


*The FOIA/PA Specialist will be placed within a government agency to support the mission to respond to FOIA/PA requests promptly and accurately. In this endeavor the contractor will do the initial coordination, research, process cases, and make recommendations so an agency official can make an accurate, final decision for the release of documents and information to the public.


*FOIA/PA responses will conform to the Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, Executive Order, Federal law, and agency regulations.

  • Must have knowledge of all FOIA exemptions and the overall FOIA process. 
  • Review and process FOIA/PA requests which include those in backlog and new cases. 
  • Write requester response letters, notices and objections to release of certain information in a timely manner per agency guidelines. 
  • Facilitate cross-agency FOIA/PA disclosure between the agency and other offices and agencies
  • Redact and annotate support documents per agency FOIA guidelines.


*Length of assignment: 1 base year with (1) one-year options

*Start date: Upon successful completion of a background check

*Degree required: JD plus any state bar license

*Location: Onsite, Washington, DC SW

*Hours: 8:30am – 5pm Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. No OT

Compensation:  Hourly rate between $44-48/hour, depending on experience
