Experience Required
  • 3+ years' experience performing data analysis including statistical analysis, database management, and working with public health surveillance data.
  • Experience in applying quantitative and qualitative analysis to provide actionable insights on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and infectious diseases.
  • Experience designing and implementing analytical reviews, and updates on data validations utilizing REDCap and SAS programs.
  • Experience creating and maintaining database records for ad-hoc report development.
  • Experience providing technical assistance and project recommendations to increase data reporting efficiencies.
  • Experience Conduct the sampling evaluation, the frame omission evaluation, and the nonresponse evaluation for available SET-NET jurisdictional datasets.

Job Objective
The purpose of this requirement is to support CDC in its effort to gather and analyze data from longitudinal pregnant people and infant surveillance and Birth Defects surveillance/registry systems, as well as provide services to support CDC activities related to neonatal abstinence syndrome to make use of existing state bio surveillance and other surveillance tools to improve voluntary, de-identified prenatal and newborn health data. Data may include opioid-related information before and during pregnancy to reduce risks associated with neonatal abstinence syndrome and optimize care.
Responsibilities
  • Replicate the data analyses for various manuscripts (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), et al.)
  • Analyze data to finalize manuscripts. Ensure replication of analyses, incorporate feedback from coauthors, and with approval of coauthors, submit final manuscripts to CDC clearance prior to the end of the contract period of performance
  • Develop/finalize a data users' guide and documentation (standard operating procedures) on data analyses procedures and practices
  • Conduct data quality review analyses for existing birth defects and pregnant people and infant longitudinal databases
  • Ensure activities comply with CDC required confidentiality policies and procedures
  • Must be prepared to travel and attend an in person meeting and participate in at least 2-3 site visits at least once a year to a funded jurisdiction. Site visit dates and locations may vary
  • Develop and maintain databases in REDCap, Access, R, STATA or other identified databases
  • Design, develop, and manage the logistics and evaluation of data systems
  • Identify issues within the data systems and document in a log
  • Develop and implement solutions to address issues within the data systems and reflect the solution in the log
  • Recommend and implement changes to databases to respond to scientific analytic needs
  • Maintain a data dictionary for all data files used to create reports, provide to CDC project team on a quarterly basis
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for data management
  • Develop and maintain an Access clinical reviewer tool
  • Identify training needs of end users related to data quality
  • Develop technical training guides to respond to identified training needs
  • Test software to ensure proper functionality, troubleshoot problems, and resolve technical issues
  • Monitor users, network use, adjust configurations, and implement system enhancements to achieve optimal performance
  • Import and export data into a wide variety of file formats, including transposing data from 'long' to 'wide' and the reverse as appropriate for the type of data
  • Develop web applications to track birth defects surveillance activities
  • Create reports in SAS, Excel, Word, .NET, MS Access, and SQL Server. Report types will be determined by the government based upon the system being utilized
  • Install, maintain, and support data networks for Surveillance for Emerging Threats to Pregnant People and Infants Network (SET-NET)
  • Maintain and support data networks for Maternal and Infant Network to Understand Outcomes Associated with Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder During Pregnancy (MAT-LINK)
  • Ensure activities comply with CDC required confidentiality policies and procedures
  • Analyze the impact of polymorphism in folate metabolism on dose-response to folic acid intake
