Job Description
Interactive Government Holdings (IGH) is seeking qualified, trained and capable individuals to serve as Mental Health Counselors for the New Hampshire National Guard Military Readiness Support Services program.
The Mental Health Counselor provides confidential, readiness-focused behavioral health support to Soldiers, Airmen, eligible family members, and leaders served by the New Hampshire National Guard Military Readiness Support Services program. The Counselor delivers short-term counseling, assessment, crisis response, referral coordination, outreach, and consultation designed to strengthen psychological readiness, resilience, and access to care.
Position Requirements
Major responsibilities include (not all inclusive):
Provide direct, evidence-based mental health counseling and therapy services to Service Members, adult family members, and their children/adolescents. Prioritize the needs of clients who are uninsured or are unable to access timely care. These services shall include, but are not limited to, individual therapy for stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma; family and relationship counseling targeting communication and reintegration; and, on a limited basis, counseling for children and adolescents.
Case Documentation and System Utilization: Utilize the Government Furnished Information Systems (GFI), including MEDCHART Suite (e.g., eCase, HRR), for the purpose of documenting client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes, and for accessing relevant Service Member medical readiness data as required for the provision of mental health counseling services. All data entry and retrieval shall adhere strictly to HIPAA, DoD, and NHNG policies for data security and privacy.
Family and Youth Counseling: Provide direct therapeutic services tailored to military families. These services shall include but are not limited to couples and marriage counseling focused on pre- and post-deployment reintegration; and counseling for children and adolescents addressing stressors related to a parent's deployment, military lifestyle transitions, and other unique challenges.
Manage the clinical caseload for their counseling personnel for an estimated baseline of 30 active individual cases per month per provider. Maximize the use of direct, in-house clinical care. Recommend referral of clients to an external community provider when internal clinical capacity is fully exhausted
Provide individual, group, and family counseling services within the approved program scope, emphasizing brief, solution-focused, strengths-based interventions.
Conduct screenings, psychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and readiness-related consultations to identify behavioral health needs and appropriate levels of care.
Respond to urgent behavioral health concerns, including crisis intervention, safety planning, coordination with emergency resources, and follow-up as appropriate.
Assist Service Members and families with stress, deployment and reintegration challenges, grief, relationship strain, adjustment concerns, anxiety, depression, and other common readiness-impacting issues.
Coordinate referrals and warm handoffs to military, civilian, community, Veterans Affairs, Employee Assistance Program, and other behavioral health resources.
Consult with commanders, senior leaders, chaplains, medical personnel, Family Programs, and other support staff while maintaining applicable confidentiality requirements.
Develop and deliver briefings, workshops, and outreach activities on resilience, stress management, suicide prevention, substance misuse awareness, family readiness, and help-seeking resources.
Participate in readiness events, drill weekends, deployment-cycle activities, Yellow Ribbon events, health fairs, and other mission-support activities as assigned.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with contract, program, clinical, privacy, and reporting requirements.
Track service utilization, trends, referrals, and follow-up needs to support program reporting and continuous improvement.
Promote a culture that reduces stigma, encourages early help-seeking, and supports the psychological health of the force and families.
Skills / Certifications:
Shall possess a current, active, and unrestricted license to practice independently in the State of New Hampshire as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Psychologist.
Qualifications:
Prior experience supporting National Guard, Reserve, active-duty military, Veterans, or military families.
Training or experience in suicide risk assessment, trauma-informed care, substance misuse screening, resiliency education, and crisis response.
Experience delivering psychoeducational briefings, command consultations, and outreach at military or community events.
Familiarity with New Hampshire behavioral health, crisis, military family, and Veterans support resources.
Knowledge of military culture, National Guard or Reserve component operations, deployment-cycle support, family readiness, and community behavioral health systems.
Ability to work with diverse Service Members, families, leaders, and community partners in a respectful, professional, and mission-focused manner.
Ability to pass required background checks, maintain required credentials, and comply with all contract, federal, state, and program requirements.
At Interactive Government Holdings, Inc. (IGH), health and safety play a vital role in our success. IGH's employees work together to comply with all applicable health & safety practices and protocols, including health orders and regulations related to COVID-19 that are mandated by local, state and federal authorities.
