Job description

Job Summary:
Gorton's is seeking an IT Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations and continuous improvement of their IT infrastructure and security operations. This role involves leading IT systems management, ensuring reliable operations in a manufacturing environment, and partnering with IT leadership on various initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Own the day-to-day operation of IT systems (networks, servers, endpoints, identity, and access)
• Remain hands on with troubleshooting, system changes, and infrastructure improvements
• Provide leadership and oversight of onsite and remote third-party IT support resources
• Own IT security operations across identity, access, monitoring, and endpoint protection
• Ensure reliable IT operations for a 24×5 manufacturing environment, including participation in off-hours escalation and incident response as needed
• Plan and oversee infrastructure-focused initiatives such as: Network and facility upgrades, Server and application modernization, IT asset and endpoint lifecycle management
• Ensure strong operational practices around: System availability, performance, reliability, and service levels, Access controls, MFA, and least-privilege enforcement, Monitoring, alerting, incident response, and root cause resolution
• Partner with IT leadership on planning, prioritization, and budgeting
• Define, maintain, and enforce documentation, operational standards, and support processes
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience
• 7-10+ years of experience in IT operations or infrastructure
• Prior hands-on technical experience with direct ownership of systems and operational outcomes
• Strong grounding in Microsoft environments, networking, and security fundamentals
• Experience supporting multi-site organizations with manufacturing
• Comfortable working in a small team model with third-party support resources
• Pragmatic, accountable, and execution-focused approach
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Candidates must have permanent U.S. work authorization
Preferred:
• Exposure to application support and Unix/Linux environments is a plus
• Relevant technical certifications (Microsoft, networking, or security) are a plus, but not required
