About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - Full Stack + GenAI to join the Enterprise Pipeline Services team supporting our Chief Technology Office (CTO). This team serves as a centralized engineering function that provides critical platform and pipeline services across multiple Lines of Business. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and support of highly resilient, scalable, and secure services that are activated as enterprise pipeline processes execute, ensuring reliable delivery of core capabilities across the organization.

You will partner with technology leaders, architects, and engineering teams to drive modernization initiatives, improve platform reliability, and deliver robust cloud-native solutions that enable large-scale enterprise software development. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership skills and a passion for building high-performing, highly available systems that power critical business operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives with companywide impact, driving the design, development, and delivery of highly scalable, secure, resilient, and cloud-native applications.
  • Design and build microservices-based solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, REST APIs, ORM frameworks, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Apply Twelve-Factor App principles, cloud-native design patterns, and non-functional requirements (NFRs) to deliver performant, maintainable, and reliable software solutions.
  • Utilize modern GenAI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, and other LLM-based technologies to accelerate engineering productivity, diagnostics, automation, and software delivery.
  • Design and implement enterprise-grade application architectures leveraging patterns such as Strangler, API Gateway, Aggregation, CQRS, Event Sourcing, Saga, and Circuit Breaker.
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in application performance management, memory optimization, multi-threading, troubleshooting, and production support for complex distributed systems.
  • Apply strong software engineering fundamentals including data structures, object-oriented programming (OOP), design patterns, SOLID principles, and secure coding practices.
  • Evaluate complex technical challenges, recommend innovative solutions, and influence engineering best practices across teams and initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders in Agile development environments to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
  • Lead projects, mentor engineers, conduct technical reviews, and provide guidance on architecture, design, and engineering excellence.
  • Leverage LLM-powered development tools and AI-assisted workflows within enterprise environments while ensuring secure, responsible, and scalable adoption.
  • Contribute to engineering innovation through knowledge of agentic AI patterns, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Resolve complex technical issues through advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting while maintaining a focus on business outcomes, operational excellence, and long-term scalability.
  • Drive the adoption of engineering standards, modern development practices, and technology solutions that improve organizational effectiveness and accelerate delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-grade full-stack applications using Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
  • 3+ years of experience developing and supporting distributed applications and services using Python and Node.js
  • 2+ years of experience with NoSQL Databases such as Mongo, Cassandra
  • 1+ years of experience leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) technologies and AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, Claude, or similar tools
  • 1+ years of experience building modern, responsive user interfaces utilizing React or Angular

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification in Google/Azure Cloud, AWS Associate level / Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) developer
  • Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, and real-time streaming application development.
  • Proficiency with automated testing frameworks including JUnit, Mockito, and WireMock.
  • Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices.
  • Experience applying Chaos Engineering principles to improve system resiliency and reliability.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized application development.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications using Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of modern application deployment, monitoring, logging, and observability practices.
  • Understanding of Secure SDLC principles and secure software development practices.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.
