Claims Examiner - Property and Casualty Insurance - Base Salary to 90k/year - Honolulu, HI

  • Our client, a large and growing insurance carrier, is seeking a Claims Examiner to join their team in Honolulu, HI. This role is responsible for managing complex Property and Casualty insurance claims including structural property damage, auto liability, casualty, and workers' compensation-related claims.
  • The Claims Examiner will oversee claim investigations, evaluate coverage and damages, coordinate with Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), field adjusters, consultants, and vendors, and negotiate claim settlements in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Property and Casualty claims including:
    • Structural and building property damage claims
    • Auto-related claims
    • Casualty claims
    • Workers' compensation-related claims
  • Review claim documentation, policy language, estimates, photos, reports, and supporting materials to determine coverage and claim exposure
  • Evaluate damages and determine appropriate claim reserves and settlement amounts
  • Coordinate and oversee Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), independent adjusters, field adjusters, consultants, engineers, contractors, and vendors throughout the claims process
  • Work closely with outside experts including CPAs, inspectors, and consultants on complex or high-exposure claims
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, vendors, attorneys, and other involved parties
  • Ensure timely and accurate claim handling while maintaining compliance with company standards and insurance regulations
  • Maintain detailed claim documentation and reporting within claims management systems
  • Communicate claim status updates and coverage determinations to insureds, agents, claimants, and internal stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Property and Casualty claims handling experience
  • Experience handling property damage, structural, casualty, auto, or workers' compensation-related claims
  • Experience managing or coordinating with Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), independent adjusters, vendors, or outside consultants
  • Experience evaluating policy coverage, damages, and settlement exposure
  • Proficiency with Xactimate estimating software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Ability to review claim documentation, estimates, and supporting reports for accuracy and coverage determination

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 60k - 90k/year range
  • Medical (PPO), dental (PPO), vision (PPO), and life insurance fully covered for employees
  • 50% dependent insurance coverage paid by company
  • 401k with 4% company match
  • Hybrid schedule after 90 days (3 days onsite / 2 remote)
  • 13 paid holidays
