The Lead Plant Operator partners across the team to safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical and high pressure gas cylinders with a commitment to following federal, state, local regulations, and maintaining the standard operating procedures of Airgas. The Loader will also be dedicated to supporting all safety standards in the loading and unloading of cylinder gases per Airgas procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cylinder analyses & fosters alignment with government and company standards.

  • Calculates gas mixtures to achieve quality standard goals and documents results.

  • Ensures that a mixture can be safely made.

  • Selects cylinders and valve combinations to ensure compatibility with the mix and compliance.

  • Performs analyses of gas mixtures to identify opportunities for precision and align with Airgas specifications.

  • Partners with team members in operating control panels, containing valves and pressure gauges, and scales to accurately measure gas mixtures.

  • Delivers thoughtful service to customers by ensuring that all special product requests are met.

  • Completes all necessary documentation to accurately record all production actions.

  • Supports all safety standards in the production of cylinder gases including assisting with internal audits.

  • Dedicated to honoring company procedures and government regulations relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials.

  • Takes care in evaluating cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards.

  • Safely operates a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse/material-handling equipment.

  • Loads/unloads cylinders on/off pallets; ensuring they are strapped in.

  • Contributes to other team priorities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience

  • 1 year of related technical experience. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.

  • Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position's responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system
