Senior Robotics Engineer (Mechanical & Systems) Job Summary:

An innovative robotics and data analytics company in Sterling, VA is seeking a hands-on Senior Robotics Engineer (Mechanical & Systems) to support the development of a next-generation inspection platform for the energy sector. This is a milestone-driven prototype program with strong industry backing and real-world deployment potential. If you enjoy building, testing, and iterating in a fast-moving engineering environment, this could be a great fit. This role will require you to work fully onsite in Sterling, VA. The client is open to relocations. No third parties please.

Senior Robotics Engineer (Mechanical & Systems) Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabricate mechanical systems for advanced robotics applications.
  • Develop and integrate electronics, motors, and power systems.
  • Conduct testing, validation, and quality assurance.
  • Create and refine CAD models (Onshape preferred).
  • Contribute to embedded programming efforts (Arduino/C, Raspberry Pi/Python).
  • Utilize 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, and traditional shop tools.
  • Collaborate directly with technical leadership to meet development milestones.

Senior Robotics Engineer (Mechanical & Systems) Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in robotics system design.
  • Strong background in mechanical design and fabrication.
  • Working knowledge of electronics and circuit design.
  • Comfortable operating in a shop/lab environment with strong safety practices.
  • Clear and effective technical communication skills.
  • Experience with remote or underwater robotics systems.
  • Simulation tools (FEA/CFD, MATLAB, Simulink, etc.).
  • CAM software experience (Fusion 360 or similar).
  • Oil & gas industry exposure preferred.
  • Product certification experience.
