Job description

This position involves high net worth divorce and equitable distribution matters, contested custody and support cases, and personal injury cases ranging in value from six to eight figures.
The paralegal position requires legal research related to personal injury cases and family law. The position will be required to draft, review, and organize legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
Assist attorneys in case preparation by managing case files, summarizing depositions, and coordinating with clients and witnesses.
Perform document review and analysis to identify relevant information and ensure compliance with legal standards.
Conduct both factual and legal research in support of case preparation and attorney work product.
Maintain communication with clients, medical providers, and other parties to gather necessary information and facilitate case progress.
Interact with clients on a regular basis, including responding to client inquiries, obtaining documents and information, and keeping clients informed of case status.
Support trial preparation such as organizing exhibits, preparing trial notebooks, and coordinating logistics.
Ensure all legal documentation and correspondence are accurate, timely, and properly filed according to court requirements. Maintain calendar to track progress of assigned and report weekly to attorney your progress with the case.
Independently manage and track court deadlines and internal case deadlines, including calendaring filing, service, and discovery dates and confirming that each is met.
Review, organize, and summarize medical records and financial records, including preparing chronologies, damages summaries, and asset and income summaries for attorney review.
This position carries a significant degree of independent responsibility. The paralegal is expected to work independently, exercise sound judgment with limited day-to-day supervision, prioritize competing deadlines across multiple cases, and take ownership of assigned matters from intake through resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a paralegal, preferably in Virginia personal injury or family law.
Proficiency in legal research tools and databases such LexisNexis.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
Proficiency in Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, and other AI applications.
Demonstrate a knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and document preparation related to personal injury law or family law.

Be able to take direction and work independently but not afraid to ask questions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
