Northrop Grumman is seeking Associate Data Scientists and Data Scientists. This position will be located at our Space sector in Promontory, UT.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Propulsion Engineering team.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of large and diverse datasets from various sources.
  • Apply statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and other data science methodologies to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Develop and implement predictive models, optimization algorithms, and data visualization tools to support design, test and manufacturing decisions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, scientific, and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into data science solutions.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences through clear and concise reports, dashboards and presentations.
  • Support the evaluation and selection of appropriate data science tools and technologies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data science processes, analytics pipelines, and best practices.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging data science trends, tools and technologies relevant to aerospace and propulsion applications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Be completing or has completed their Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Be majoring in or having majored in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related STEM field
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Basic Qualifications for a Data Scientist:

  • Be completing or has completed their Master's degree from an accredited institution
  • Be majoring in or having majored in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related STEM field
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher
  • Internship or co-op experience in aerospace, defense, or propulsion, or in a data science/analytics role supporting engineering or manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with common data science tools and languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Jupyter, Pandas, scikit learn, or similar).
  • Experience building visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, or Power BI.

Salary Range:

Associate Data Scientist: $72,400 to $108,600

Data Scientist: $87,200 to $130,800

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
