Summary: 

The Senior Production Artist / Graphic Designer is responsible for the technical execution, production, and quality control of all creative assets across Fior di Sole's portfolio of brands. Serving as the final checkpoint before artwork is released for production, this role ensures all files are accurate, compliant, production-ready, and consistent with established brand standards.
In addition to leading production execution, this position designs and develops creative solutions for product packaging, private label brands, marketing collateral, digital assets, and promotional materials from concept through final production. The Senior Production Artist / Graphic Designer collaborates closely with Marketing, Sales, Winemaking, Compliance, Production, Quality Assurance, Planning, and external vendors to transform creative concepts into high-quality finished products while maintaining brand integrity, technical accuracy, and production efficiency.
This role requires advanced expertise in print production, packaging development, prepress, color management, and graphic design, along with exceptional attention to detail and project management skills. The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver who can balance original design work with production excellence, manage multiple priorities, and consistently deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Own the execution of all creative assets from approved design through final production.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain production-ready mechanical artwork for wine labels, cartons, capsules, closures, shippers, point-of-sale materials, promotional merchandise, and marketing collateral.
  • Convert creative files into final mechanical artwork, ensuring all printer specifications, dielines, bleeds, color profiles, embellishments, and production requirements are accurate.
  • Perform final quality control reviews of all artwork before release, ensuring accuracy, consistency, compliance, and adherence to Fior di Sole brand standards.
  • Manage relationships with packaging suppliers, printers, promotional merchandise vendors, photographers, and other production partners to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate and approve proofs, color matches, press checks, production samples, and final print approvals.
  • Serve as Marketing's final production approver for branded materials before manufacturing or publication.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and work collaboratively with vendors to identify and implement solutions.
  • Partner with Production, Quality Assurance, Planning, Winemaking, and Compliance to ensure packaging and marketing materials meet operational, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying packaging quality enhancements, production efficiencies, cost savings, and BOM streamlining opportunities.
  • Maintain organized artwork archives, digital assets, templates, and production files.
  • Ensure all creative materials receive appropriate internal approvals before production, publication, or distribution.
  • Design product packaging, including labels, cartons, capsules, closures, and supporting packaging components for new and existing wine brands.
  • Develop creative concepts and complete private label brand identities from concept through final production.
  • Design print and digital marketing materials including brochures, sell sheets, advertisements, presentations, trade show graphics, point-of-sale materials, promotional merchandise, website graphics, email marketing assets, and social media content.
  • Maintain visual consistency across all brands by ensuring adherence to established brand standards.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to develop creative solutions that support business objectives.
  • Support product launches, marketing campaigns, trade shows, customer presentations, and company events through creative design and production.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Stay current on design trends, printing technologies, packaging innovations, and production best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, Digital Design, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in graphic design, production art, or packaging production; experience within the wine, beverage, consumer packaged goods, or food industry is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Lightroom.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with project management software such as Asana is a plus.
  • Expert understanding of print production, prepress workflows, packaging development, typography, layout, color management, and digital file preparation.
  • Extensive experience preparing print-ready production files and working directly with printers, packaging suppliers, label converters, carton manufacturers, and promotional product vendors.
  • Strong understanding of print embellishments including foil stamping, embossing, debossing, specialty coatings, varnishes, textured papers, and other premium finishing techniques.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting dielines, printer specifications, and packaging production requirements.
  • Strong understanding of packaging revisions and artwork updates within regulated industries; wine industry and TTB labeling experience is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to build productive working relationships across departments and with external vendors.
  • Experience working in both Mac and PC environments preferred.
  • A portfolio demonstrating both creative design and production expertise is required during the interview process.
  • Passion for branding, packaging, design excellence, and the wine industry.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: 

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to frequently use a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, copier, scanner, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 45 pounds, including cases of wine, marketing materials, and event supplies.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, reach, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, push, pull, twist, and grasp objects.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel between company locations as needed and possess a valid California driver's license that meets company insurance requirements.
  • Ability to participate in wine tastings, trade shows, marketing events, and industry functions.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours to support press checks, product launches, events, or business needs.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with occasional exposure to production facilities, warehouses, and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is typically moderate.
