The purpose of this position/role is to lead the design, development, and implementation of cloud-based solutions that support the organization's fraud detection and prevention initiatives. This role is crucial for ensuring the seamless migration of existing systems to cloud platforms, optimizing cloud infrastructure for performance and cost-efficiency, and maintaining high standards of security and compliance.

  • Leads  Champion a customer-focused culture by fostering strong relationships with business users and stakeholders
  • Drive strategic transformation of Scotiabank platforms by leveraging modern technologies including Java 8/17 Spring Boot, and microservices architecture to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions that meet evolving business needs.
  • Lead the documentation, development, and implementation of high-quality solutions that align with operational excellence standards
  • The incumbent is responsible for contributing to multiple key projects, both small and large, concurrently along with participation in a production support rotation.
  • Contributes to technical vision and strategy by collaborating with technical lead ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Actively contributes to core development activities, including coding, configuration, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for documentation of design including Technical Design Document, Security Design document etc.
  • Contributes to the estimation process for new business and technical requirements, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Provide production support to assigned applications by identifying, evaluating, escalating, resolving problems and supporting other team members including performance monitoring.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to less experienced analysts and programmers.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Project Managers, and external vendors to understand business needs and align on delivery outcomes.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Experience working with authenticated, customer focused applications
  • Experience in Core Java, Java 8, Java 17
  • Experience with JSF, Spring Core framework
  • Experience with Spring, Spring boot, JDBC.
  • Experience developing with Java for more than 3 years, including requirements analysis, cloud-based back-end and front-end design, development, implementation, release, deployment, and cloud solutions implementation. Experience working with React and Redux.
  • Experience working with json-web-token authorization
  • Experience working with database technology such as Sybase
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud development and deployment using platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
  • Have a proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Comfortable using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, etc.
  • Knowledge in Object Oriented and Functional Design
  • Deep knowledge of Agile principles, and the flexibility to adapt your experience to new and evolving environments
  • Excellent communication, including ability to distil technical details into human terms
