Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Fiber Splicer to join our field team. In this role, you'll serve as the technical lead on-site, responsible for the precision splicing, testing, and activation of our fiber network. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in high-quality craftsmanship, and thrives in an environment where safety and production standards are top priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end splicing on aerial and underground fiber optic cables. You'll handle everything from pulling fiber through conduits to securing cables in commercial and new-build environments.
  • Use OTDRs, power meters, and light-level testing to verify signal performance. You'll be the go-to resource for diagnosing splice loss, attenuation, and general network issues.
  • Interpret engineered blueprints and splice diagrams to guide your work. You'll be responsible for creating accurate as-built documentation and marking up maps to reflect real-world installations.
  • Self-supervise job sites to ensure all safety protocols are followed. You'll manage daily production reports, track material reconciliation, and maintain an organized inventory of tools and hardware.
  • Act as the face of the company when communicating with property owners or residents, ensuring all questions are handled professionally.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience with fusion splicing, fiber ribbon stripping, and fiber architecture.
  • Comfortable using Google Earth for site navigation and mapping, EXFO/OTDR software for testing, and Excel or Google Sheets for data tracking and production reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex splice matrices and technical PDFs.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of fieldwork (aerial and underground), with a willingness to work flexible hours and overtime.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Authorization to work in the United States
