This is a research position in the Department of Ophthalmology under the supervision of Dr. Siamak Yousefi. The Post-Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies, preferably in Computational Ophthalmology.

Department Requirements / Specifics

  • Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.

  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

  • Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Develop various machine learning and data mining models including deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), Transformers, large language models (LLMs), and Vision Language Models (VLMs) Develop Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) models and agentic AI Developing manifold learning (e.g., tSNE and UMAP) and unsupervised clustering to identify disease phenotypes Analyze electronics health record (EHR) data and retinal imaging including fundus photographs, fundus autofluorescence, optical coherence tomography (OCT), visual field, full-field electroretinograms (ffERG), and genetic data for automated screening, diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of major eye diseases such as glaucoma and other optic neuropathies, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inherited retinal diseases, and uveitis.

  • Programming in Python and R languages with knowledge of Google Tensorflow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras or other related deep learning libraries.

  • Genetic and genomic data analysis
