Associate Product Manager Define and drive a product area from concept to delivery for autonomous maritime tech

Location: Austin, Texas

About The Role Associate Product Manager

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.

Job Overview

We are seeking an Associate Product Manager to contribute to the strategy, development, and delivery of cutting-edge autonomous maritime products. Reporting to a Product or Senior Product Manager, you'll own a defined product area, carry distinct responsibilities, provide ongoing support to key Saronic products, and contribute to building and maintaining cross-product team resources. This role is designed for junior product managers or hardware or software engineers looking to shift into product management. We will train your skills; we need your enthusiasm, organization, judgment, work ethic, comfort with ambiguity, and curiosity.

Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy: Support the development of a comprehensive product strategy that is aligned to Saronic's vision and considerate of defense and commercial requirements. Analyze operational needs, market trends, competition, and user feedback to identify opportunities and drive product differentiation.
  • Product Development: Dig deep with engineering, production, and mission operations teams to drive execution and push product development forward. Get underway on a ship, walk the production line, and sit with the software team to understand what's happening and what needs to be done to move at speed.
  • Roadmap Planning: Create and maintain a detailed product roadmap for an initiative, product component, or other effort nested within the responsibilities of a Product Manager. Target both immediate success and integration into broader Saronic activities and priorities.
  • Content Generation: Proactively generate content to provide updates and educate both internal and external stakeholders. Help non-technical audiences understand how our products work and the rationale behind our design choices. Help technical audiences understand what customers need and how our products need to function to ensure customer success.
  • Intra-Team Support: Build and maintain internal tools, documentation, and other materials that enable the Product function at Saronic.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
  • Shrewd judgment and a keen sense for what differentiates good products from bad
  • Diplomatic disposition with knack for cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong technical background with knowledge of autonomous systems and/or constituent technologies (sensors and perception, radios and networking, structures and mechanical design, board design and electrical architectures, etc)
  • Mature written and verbal communication skills, with comfort and experience creating presentations, writing memos, and presenting to an audience
  • Interest in product management; past experience is preferred but not required
  • Detail-oriented mindset for all projects, large and small
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional standing and walking within the office
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
  • Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
  • Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
Benefits
  • Medical Insurance: Comprehensive health insurance plans covering a range of services
  • Saronic pays 100% of the premium for employees and 80% for dependents
  • Dental and Vision Insurance: Coverage for routine dental check-ups, orthodontics, and vision care
  • Saronic pays 100% of the premium under the basic plan for employees and 80% for dependents
  • Time Off: Generous PTO and Holidays
  • Parental Leave: Paid maternity and paternity leave to support new parents
  • Competitive Salary: Industry-standard salaries with opportunities for performance-based bonuses
  • Retirement Plan: 401(k) plan with company match
  • Stock Options: Equity options to give employees a stake in the company's success
  • Life and Disability Insurance: Basic life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Pet Insurance: Discounted pet insurance options including 24/7 Telehealth helpline
  • Additional Perks: Free lunch benefit and unlimited free drinks and snacks in the office
  • Saronic CCAA Notice for Candidates and California Employees
