Job description

Own the Automation Layer for one of the fastest growing businesses in E-Commerce

Role: Business Process Automation Specialist
Location: Onsite, five days a week, at Symphony Towers in downtown San Diego (92101). This role is not hybrid or remote.
Compensation Range: $120,000-$150,000 DOE

At Luminize, we help brands win, and as one of the top 5 Amazon sellers in the US, we're looking for top performers to grow with us.

We're looking for a systems-minded builder who thrives on turning chaos into clean, scalable automation. As our Business Process Automation Specialist, you'll own the automation layer that lets Luminize manage 80+ brands without linear headcount growth, designing, building, and maintaining the custom tools, integrations, and AI-powered workflows that connect our entire operation.

This is one person, no engineering team, and a mandate to delete work before you wire it together.

What You'll OwnProcess Discovery & Design
  • Partner with department leads to identify high-impact manual workflows and quantify the cost of the status quo: hours lost, errors made, delays, and missed handoffs.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into scoped, deliverable solutions, push back when a process needs redesign before it can be automated, and eliminate redundant work across teams.
Automation Infrastructure
  • Architect, build, and maintain custom tools across the Google ecosystem (Apps Script, Sheets, Docs, Forms) as our primary internal SME.
  • Use Zapier, Make.com, and Asana to create automated handoffs between teams. For example, a completed Supply Chain task that triggers a Catalog notification with all required inputs pre-populated.
  • Build integrations across Asana, HubSpot, Google Workspace, Slack, and Looker Studio to eliminate manual data entry and keep data in sync in real time.
  • Automate recurring end-to-end processes like client onboarding, reporting pipelines, and internal HR workflows, and error-proof inputs across the org with validation, guardrails, and exception handling.
AI Integration
  • Identify where LLMs (Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT) can replace manual analysis, summarization, categorization, or extraction work.
  • Build production AI workflows for use cases like client feedback categorization, meeting transcript analysis, and document parsing, and stay ahead of the curve as new tooling emerges.
Adoption, Documentation & Governance
  • Drive adoption of new systems through training, documentation, and hands-on end-user support.
  • Write and maintain SOPs and runbooks so every workflow is transparent, supportable, and immediately transferable.
  • Partner with IT and Business Systems on shared infrastructure, access controls, and tool governance.
Your First 90 Days

Weeks 1-3: sit with every department and come back with a ranked list of manual work, priced in hours per week.
Weeks 4-8: ship the top three.
Weeks 9-12: write the runbooks and hand the first one off cleanly.

How we'll measure you: hours of low-value work eliminated, not scripts shipped. If the right answer is a well-built Sheet template, that counts.

Why We're Onsite

This job is walking to someone's desk, watching them do the thing by hand, and having a working version by the end of the week. That does not happen over Slack. You'll sit with Supply Chain, Catalog, and Brand Management in the same week, and the reason this role works here is that the people whose work you're automating are twenty feet away.

What You BringRequired
  • Hands-on Google Apps Script and advanced Google Sheets that you have written yourself, not directed someone else to write.
  • At least one of Zapier or Make.com running in production.
  • A track record of finding your own work. You walk into an unfamiliar operation, sit with people, and come back with something worth building, rather than waiting for a spec.
  • Comfort telling a department lead that their process should be redesigned, or should not be automated at all. Half this job is deleting steps before you wire them together.

Typically this looks like five or more years of building this kind of thing, but a body of work matters more to us than the number.

Helpful, not required
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs and webhooks, including authentication, pagination, and rate limiting
  • Experience with at least one LLM API or AI tool in a production workflow
  • A degree in Business Administration, IT, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience with other automation platforms, whether that's n8n, Workato, Power Automate, Retool, Airtable, or AppSheet
  • Google Workspace administration experience
  • SQL, or comfort building reporting on top of Looker Studio and BigQuery
  • Experience in a high-growth or multi-client environment
You May Currently Be
  • A Business Systems Analyst or Business Process Analyst
  • A Business Process Automation Specialist, or an Automation or Workflow Automation Specialist
  • A Google Workspace Administrator or Google Workspace Engineer
  • A Solutions Engineer or Internal Tools Engineer building for your own company rather than for customers
  • A Systems Integration Specialist working across APIs and no-code platforms
  • In Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, or Business Operations, and you're the one actually building the automations rather than scoping them for someone else
  • A Data or Reporting Analyst who automated your own reporting pipeline and found you liked that part best
  • A self-taught builder living in Zapier, Make, n8n, Power Automate, or Apps Script, with production workflows other people depend on

If your title isn't on this list but you've built automation that a team relies on and you can show it to us, apply anyway.

Work From Symphony Towers

Your office comes with a view, literally.

  • Panoramic city and coastline views from your workspace
  • Free building gym access, no separate membership needed
  • Exclusive discounts at tower restaurants and cafes
  • Secure bike storage
  • 24/7 paid parking downtown, blocks from the office
  • Steps from 100+ top-rated bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and Petco Park
An Office You'll Actually Want to Be In

Built for how great teams actually work.

  • Ergonomic standing desks and premium workstations
  • Fully stocked kitchen, snacks, espresso
  • Monthly all-company lunches to celebrate wins and stay connected
  • A team lounge with pool table and games for when you need a break
  • Bright, modern, collaborative space designed for focus and connection
Benefits & Perks

You do great work here, and we want to take care of you outside of it, too.

  • Comprehensive medical coverage, with multiple plans through Anthem Blue Cross
  • Dental and vision, including orthodontia and annual exams
  • Pet benefits, with savings on vet care, products, and services
  • Paid vacation, accruing 120 hours a year with rollover
  • Paid holidays and sick time
  • 401(k) with company match
Why Luminize

This is not a maintain-the-status-quo role. You'd be building the operational backbone of a company running 100+ brands, with the authority, visibility, and executive access to do it properly, and with the Director of Operations as your direct partner rather than a layer of approval.

We offer clear career paths, promote from within, and invest in people who drive results. You'll get cross-functional exposure across supply chain, catalog, brand management, content, and commercial strategy, which is exactly the avenue this role needs.

About Luminize

Luminize is a full-service Amazon growth partner helping brands achieve next-level success in a competitive digital marketplace. From creative strategy to advertising and analytics, we combine expertise and hustle to fuel results for brands in CPG, health, wellness, beauty, and beyond.

We operate with transparency, celebrate wins often, and hold ourselves to a higher standard, because the brands we partner with deserve nothing less.

If you're ready to own the automation layer of a company in growth mode, we'd love to meet you.
