Job description

CORPORATE SECURITY GUARD
Summary Description:
The Corporate Security Guard works under the direct supervision of the Asset Protection Lead and the Compliance, Risk & Safety Manager, under the guidance of the Corporate Compliance Vice President. Responsible for safeguarding the property and equipment of Goodwill. Provides security services to Goodwill Employees and Service Participants. Responsible for people who enter and exit the contract services tunnel and maintains good rule of order on the premises. Patrols throughout main facilities on a periodic and daily basis. Performs other duties as assigned.
Exemplary Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Patrolling and monitoring activities on the Company's premises regularly to discourage criminals and ensure the environment and property is safe and secure.
  • Evicting trespassers and violators while following Goodwill SOLAC policy and procedure along with legal protocols before relevant authorities arrive to take over if needed.
  • Provides security services to Goodwill employees and service participants.
  • Monitor employee and visitor traffic in & out of the facility by checking identification to insure legitimacy.
  • Patrol's the facility and parking lots for unusual activities.
  • Report, document, and handles safety/security incidents/concerns to the Asset Protection Lead and the Compliance, Risk & Safety Manager.
  • Must identify physical security concerns and able to act on the spot.
  • Ensures the company CCTV systems are operational on a daily basis.
  • Using provided communication devices such as a company work phone, email, etc. in a clear and concise manner.
  • Respond to emergency calls and alarm activation calls on a 24/7 basis.
  • Work with minimum supervision.
  • Schedule will be provided upon hire and is subject to change in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year experience in security.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with all levels and management.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Must basic proficiency with technology.
  • Ability to solve problems as they arise.
  • Ability to react appropriately in a stressful situation.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to interact with all levels of management, employees, service participants, security agencies and the general public.
  • Bilingual preferred.
License/Certifications:
  • Valid CA Driver's License: clean DMV printout and be insurable to drive company vehicles.
  • Must posses a valid guard card.

  • Able to work with a diversified population and people with barriers to employment.
  • Able to work efficiently, safely, and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Able to follow instructions and operate with minimal supervision.

Presence of security personnel or measures intended to discourage theft and other unauthorized activities. Ensures that incoming phone calls are answered promptly and directed to the appropriate individual or department.
  • Security & Access Control - Ensures unauthorized access attempts are identified and prevented from entering restricted areas without proper identification or clearance. Ensures that all visitors properly sign in and record their information in the visitor log upon entry.
  • Task & Operational Efficiency - Promptly addressing incidents or concerns by notifying the appropriate personnel or escalating the issue when required which ensures critical situations are handled efficiently to minimize risk and maintain operational integrity.
  • Surveillance & Monitoring - The ongoing observation and review of security camera footage to detect suspicious activity, deter theft, and support real-time response to potential loss events which enhances situational awareness and strengthens overall asset protection efforts.
