About Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries
Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing job training, employment placement, and support services for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. With a focus on empowering individuals to achieve greater independence and inclusion in the community, Ohio Valley Goodwill has been serving the Greater Cincinnati area for over 100 years.
POSITION SUMMARY: (WHAT, HOW, WHY)
Accepting donations will allow Ohio Valley Goodwill to provide vocational training and job support services to individuals with disabilities and our Nation’s veterans. The Donation Center Attendant is responsible for accepting donations, sorting items into receptacles or trailers by category, offering tax receipts and recording donations on daily and monthly logs while demonstrating excellent customer service to our contributors. This is a key position since you will be Goodwill’s ambassador representing our brand in our community.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: None

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in customer service preferred. Ability to work independently in unsupervised situations. Sixteen years or older.

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS: Proper lifting, stacking and sorting methods preferred.

TRANSPORTATION: Reliable transportation required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for independently opening and closing donation center with daily housekeeping inside and out. This includes sidewalk and entryway swept daily along with windows being cleaned. Opening on time at start of shift, end of lunch and breaks.
  • Calls into office and use ADP to clock in and out at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Provides excellent customer service by greetings contributor promptly and cheerfully at vehicle. Assists contributors in unloading their vehicle.
  • Proactively offer receipt and survey option to donors and complete daily/monthly log,
  • Offers thanks to contributors for their donations, at all times positively representing the Goodwill brand, and our mission.
  • Maintains a polite demeanor and is helpful at all times and exhibits strong customer service skills at all times
  • Keep a neat and professional appearance.
  • Follow guidelines to stack and sort donations neatly and safely according to guidelines.
  • Keeps the trailer/ free standing site and surrounding area in a neat and clean condition daily.
  • Assist drivers in picking up cleanup or loading carts and furniture when not accepting donations
  • Reports any and all accidents or incidents immediately to supervisor and plant nurse
  • Work occasional overtime, weekends and holidays.


PERIODICAL DUTIES: Fill in at other locations. Attend department meetings.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Working in office and donation sites (warehouse settings)
  • Prolonged standing, repetitive walking, sitting, and driving to donation sites
  • Lifting/pushing/pulling 50+ lbs
