Administrative Support Assistant – The Excel Center Adult High School

Full-Time | Afternoon/Evening Schedule, 12:30-8:30pm

Starting Hourly Range: $19.30-24.12 based on education and experience

The Excel Center, operated by Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of our adult high school program.

This role serves as a key point of contact for students, visitors, and staff while providing administrative support for student records, data entry, enrollment activities, and school events. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, mission-driven educational environment.


What You'll Do
  • Maintain accurate student records, logs, and filing systems in accordance with school procedures
  • Conduct regular audits of student files to ensure documentation is complete and up to date
  • Assist the Data Manager with entering and maintaining student information in PowerSchool and other databases
  • Support transcript processing and assist students with transcript-related requests
  • Organize attendance records and prepare weekly attendance reports and teacher attendance sheets
  • Assist with reviewing new student applications and enrollment documentation
  • Greet students, visitors, and guests in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Serve as the primary front desk contact during afternoon and evening hours
  • Answer incoming calls, route messages, and respond to general inquiries
  • Provide accurate information regarding The Excel Center and available programs and services
  • Assist with planning and coordinating student orientations
  • Support outreach efforts, RSVP tracking, and enrollment activities
  • Assist with graduation ceremonies, awards programs, orientations, and other school events
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure a positive student experience throughout the enrollment and attendance process
  • Work closely with the Data Manager, Manager of Office Administration, coaches, and instructional staff
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as needed
  • Perform additional administrative duties and special projects as assigned

What We're Looking ForEducation & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Additional education or college coursework preferred
  • Minimum one year of administrative, office, customer service, or front desk experience required
  • Experience working in an educational environment is a plus
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams
  • Experience with databases, student information systems, or data entry preferred
  • Strong computer, internet, and information management skills
