Position summary:
Perform as Administrative Assistant to the Human Resources Manager of Goodwill Industries of Lorain County. Maintain a close and highly responsive relationship to the Manager of Human Resources in the conduct of day-to-day activities related to personnel matters of the facilities within the organization. Work independently, receiving a minimum of detailed supervision and guidance. Performs various clerical and administrative duties on an on-going basis.
Essential Functions:
  • Handle a variety of situations involving the clerical or administrative functions of the department without involving the executive, and provides assistance to management and support staff when needed.
  • Perform full spectrum of clerical support, including composing responses for correspondence, requests for information, and key-entering data.
  • Prepare and maintain confidential and/or technical documents.
  • Handle routine problems or details, internal and external customer relation responsibilities, maintain records and schedules meetings.
  • Interface effectively with team members, functional departments and customers. Screen calls, response to routine questions and receive and/or escort visitors.
  • Determines proper disposition of mail.
  • Manage monthly employee Anniversary and Birthdays.
  • Create and distribute monthly Newsletter.
  • Answer inquiries from internal and external sources and/or refers individuals, based on type of information requested.
  • Coordinate with internal and external executive-level staff to schedule in-house and off-site meetings. Coordination may include arrangements for travel and hotel accommodations, meal menus, recreational programs, guest speakers, and developing agendas.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of positive, professional and friendly working environment in the corporate/human resources department.
  • Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, maturity and appropriate corporate decorum, confidentiality, tact and social sensitivity necessary to the status of the position.
  • Responsible for other duties as may be assigned.
  • Assist the Manager of Human Resources with special projects assigned.
  • Maintains human resources records for employees by filing new hires, transfer, termination, and change in job classifications

Qualifications and required skills:

  • Proven ability to work efficiently with a very minimal amount of supervision.
  • Competent in arranging meetings of 15 to 100 persons at corporate or remote locations.
  • Familiarity and previous experience with other office equipment such as a multi-key business telephone system.
Education and experience:
  • High school diploma required. Associate’s degree in a business-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of related administrative assistance/human resources, including internal and external customer interactions, in a professional office setting.
