Job description

Job Title:  CDL Truck Driver 

Hourly Rate: $35 per hour 

FLSA Status:  Hourly, Non-Exempt

Location: Georgetown, Seattle WA 

Schedule: 11:30 AM - 7:30 PM, 5 days per week 

 

About the Position

The CDL Truck Driver operates commercial vehicles transferring donation containers and/or processed goods in a safe and efficient manner.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

  • Drive commercial vehicles to designated locations including, but not limited to, inner city traffic.
  • Drive and maintain company vehicles in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Transport donation containers from attended donation centers (ADC) to Goodwill locations.
  • Transport processed goods to outlying stores.
  • Transport waste to transfer station.
  • Pick up special donations and deliver goods as requested.
  • Adhere to Seattle Goodwill and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Perform the functions of production worker when needed.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent but not required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to meet intra/interstate CDL driving rules.
  • 2 year’s CDL driving experience or be a graduate of a State Certified and Licensed truck driving school
  • Ability to read, write and speak English. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills.
  • Ability to properly operate in-cab computer system for vehicle tracking and electronic logs.
  • Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems. 
  • Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service.

 

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

  • Current Washington State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class A
  • Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the US Department of Transportation(DOT):
    1. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and alcohol test
    2.  
      • Proof of insurance with good record
      • Must have a valid MVR (motor vehicle registration)

 

Computer/Technology Skills:

  • Ability to use a mobile phone
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job

Physical Abilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit or stand for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing, required to lift and carry items weighing up to 30-40 pounds and to operate a Goodwill commercial vehicle.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Maintain reliable attendance.
