THE POSITION

As a GENOMICS LAB TECHNICIAN you will work as part of the Genomic Lab team to fix, barcode, and/or sequence biological samples. In this role, you will use a wide range of laboratory techniques to perform our proprietary split-pool combinatorial barcoding protocol, ultimately helping advance our customers' research. You will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Automation, Manufacturing, and other internal partners to ensure seamless process execution and continuous improvement. 

IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment
  • Receive, inspect, and log lab specimens, handling all personally identifiable information with extreme care
  • Perform cell and/or nuclei fixation following standard operating procedures
  • Use techniques such as cell counting and electrophoresis to analyze in-process samples
  • Prepare libraries using Parse's split-pool combinatorial barcoding process
  • Operate and support automated laboratory systems used for Next Generation Sequencing
  • Maintain accurate batch records and perform required administrative tasks following Good Documentation Practices (GDP), including routine use of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for sample tracking and documentation
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) as well as any other applicable standards that may apply to the role

FOR THIS POSITION, WE LOOK FOR

  • B.S./B.A. in a relevant field with 3+ years of hands-on wet lab experience in industry or a technician role, or Associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant hands-on wet lab experience in a professional setting 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform common molecular biology or chemistry lab techniques
  • Experience using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) such as Illumina or Ultima platforms required. Experience using Lab Automation such as Hamilton platforms preferred 
  • Meticulous adherence to policies, procedures, and established protocols
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to stay organized and effectively prioritize work
  • Sound judgment and critical thinking skills, including the ability to make in-scope decisions and escalate appropriately during time-sensitive tasks
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic lab environment where priorities shift and focus can change quickly 
  • Adaptability and resilience when plans evolve or new direction is introduced

JOB CONDITIONS

  • PPE consistent with BSL-1 and/or BSL-2 laboratory standards is required
  • Standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting and/or carrying up to 30 pounds
  • Core business hours are required; however, this role may require overtime and adjusted start/end times based on lab and business needs. Scheduling flexibility is expected. No overnight shifts
  • Handling of biological specimens that may carry risk of bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials
  • Repetitive motions using pipettes and other laboratory equipment
