Job description

About Switch
At Switch, we don't just design, build and operate data centers-we are enabling the technology of the future. Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.
We believe that innovation isn't just about technology-it's about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world's most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.
The Role: Production Technician I
As a Production Technician I, you will support the construction, assembly, and installation of data center equipment and infrastructure. This role focuses on cabinet builds, floor assembly work, and production support tied to customer installation schedules. You will work closely with other technicians to complete work safely, maintain quality standards, and keep production areas organized and ready for deployment. This role includes hands-on work in active data center environments and during facility construction phases.
What You'll Do
  • Build and assemble data center cabinets based on production schedules and build requirements.
  • Support T-Scif and RPP construction and installation activities.
  • Install cabinets and related equipment on the data center floor.
  • Assist with perimeter cage construction and communication path ladder rack installation.
  • Complete cabinet labeling and post-construction tasks.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials for installation.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, forklifts, boom lifts, and other equipment safely.
  • Perform quality checks on completed work.
  • Maintain supply inventory and tools used by the production team.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Support cabinet moves using approved procedures and equipment.
  • Fabricate and install heat containment panels, ceiling tiles, and related components.
  • Follow safety procedures while working in live customer environments.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and customers during project work.
  • Complete assigned LMS training and continue developing job skills.
  • Support additional facility and production tasks as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • Clear and direct communication.
  • Consistent follow-through and attention to detail.
  • A team-first approach and willingness to support shared goals.
  • Good judgment when working around live equipment and active job sites.
  • A reliable and safety-focused work style.
  • Comfort working in hands-on environments with changing priorities.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, equipment, and processes.
  • Accountability for work quality and completed tasks.
What You'll Bring
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in production, facilities, mechanical maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Mechanical aptitude through hands-on experience, training, or education.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and schematics.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and internal communication tools.
  • Ability to take measurements and complete detailed assembly work.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation to the work site.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Ability to work on ladders and around active construction or data center environments.
  • Ability to speak and understand English.

Preferred:
  • Trade school training or related technical certifications.
  • Experience working in data centers, construction, or facilities environments.
  • Experience operating forklifts, boom lifts, or similar equipment.
