JOB TITLE: CNC Machinist (Entry Level)

LOCATION: Capewell Aerial Systems - South Windsor, CT

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate the various shop equipment including but not limited to CNC mills and CNC lathes using vises, fixtures, and rotary indexers.
  • Inspect own work with standard gaging.
  • Maintain quality and production standards.
  • Make tool adjustments and changes.
  • Perform secondary operations as required.
  • Maintaining equipment and/or machinery.
  • Assist in helping other operators to maintain production and quality.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures.
  • Fill out inspection, work orders and process records.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are required.
  • Work toward continual improvement of self and job.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.
  • This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor where safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes are required by all.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:

  • Completion of a precision manufacturing program required
  • At least 1 year of experience in CNC manufacturing highly preferred
  • Must have experience with CNC Mills
  • Experience with HAAS equipment a plus
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Able to set up and run multiple machines when needed
  • Desire to learn new skills
  • Must have good basic math skills
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Previous independent work environment preferred
  • Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and sometimes excessive.
  • This is a full-time, onsite position.
  • The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 6:00AM - 3:30PM, and every other Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
