Postdoctoral Fellow in Community Engaged Implementation Research
The Department of Applied Health Science at the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position focused on implementation science, community-engaged research, participatory co-design, diabetes prevention, and Latino health.
The fellow will work under the mentorship of Drs. Ines Gonzalez Casanova and Karla Galaviz in the GALANOVA Lab, a research group dedicated to translating scientific evidence into sustainable improvements in diabetes prevention and chronic disease management. We seek candidates who are passionate about implementing evidence-based interventions in real-world settings and improving health outcomes among Latino, rural, and other underserved populations.
This is a full-time, 12-month appointment with the possibility of annual renewal based on performance and funding availability. Salary and benefits are aligned with NIH postdoctoral stipend guidelines. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with full consideration given to those received by July 28, 2026. The start date is negotiable depending on individual needs and may begin as early as Aug 20, 2026.

About the Galanova Lab
The Galanova Lab develops, adapts, implements, and evaluates evidence-based strategies to improve diabetes prevention and chronic disease management in real-world settings. Through implementation science, community-engaged research, and participatory co-design, we partner with communities, health systems, and public health organizations to expand access to effective prevention services and improve population health.
Basic Qualifications
Required:
PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Behavioral Science, Health Services Research, Nutrition, Social Sciences, Implementation Science, or a related field by the start of the appointment.
Strong quantitative research and scientific writing skills.
Spanish language proficiency
Preferred:
Experience in implementation science, community-engaged research, dissemination and implementation research, or participatory research.
Experience working with Latino/Hispanic, rural, and/or other underserved populations.
Experience in chronic disease prevention, particularly diabetes.
Qualitative or mixed-methods research experience.
Nutrition science, lifestyle medicine, and/or dietetics training

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Coordinate implementation activities and data collection for an NIH-funded study evaluating mobile units for diabetes screening and prevention among Hispanic/Latino populations in rural Indiana.
Contribute to the design, adaptation, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based interventions using implementation science and participatory co-design approaches.
Conduct quantitative and/or mixed-methods data analyses.
Lead and contribute to manuscripts, conference presentations, and other dissemination activities.
Participate in grant writing and submission, including career-development funding opportunities.
Mentor students, research staff, and community health workers as appropriate.
Develop an independent line of research while contributing to the broader goals of the lab.
