Founded in 1901, the Northern California Golf Association is the largest allied golf association in the United States. The NCGA has roughly 200,000 members who belong to more than 1,300 member clubs throughout Northern California. The NCGA vision is "to ensure the game is vibrant, inclusive, and accessible" and is focused on enhancing the lives of Northern California golfers by helping them enjoy the benefits of golf for a lifetime. As a key partner with the USGA, the NCGA provides its members with official handicap indexes and helps oversee several critical governance areas for the game of golf. The NCGA owns and operates two golf courses (Poppy Hills and Poppy Ridge), conducts more than 650 days of golf events each year, including championships and competitive golf tournaments for all abilities, and casual golf outings and trips. The NCGA also publishes NCGA Golf magazine, and secures exclusive member discounts on products and services. Through the NCGA Foundation, the organization created and expanded Youth on Course, which provides kids access to golf for $5 or less at over 1,700 golf courses across the US and Canada.
Position: Manager, Women's Golf Events
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director, Women's Golf
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position oversees the execution of women's tournaments, one day, and some special events. This role works closely with golf course staff, volunteers, NCGA members and other program leaders to ensure events and activities run smoothly. This role balances critical pre-event administrative planning with some active, day-of-event hosting to deliver exceptional experiences for members. The position reports to the Director, Women's Golf and is expected to work cooperatively with other employees across the organization to achieve desired results. This person works independently with general guidance and is expected to make independent decisions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the administration of NCGA Women's One Day Series & Legacy Tournaments, through the Blue Golf Tournament Management software including but not limited to:
    • Set up event registration with entry fees and eligibility requirements
    • Monitor registration deadlines, track capacity, and create teams, flights, and pairings
    • Send appropriate reports to course and volunteer staff
  • Coordinate with golf facilities including scheduling, pre and post event communication, food and beverage, and billing. Communicate changes and updates to department staff, facilities and volunteers.
  • Manage assigned events on-site including but not limited to course set-up, player registration, monitoring pace of play, scoring, awards and announcements.
  • Manage and update points programs including Team of the Year and Players of the Year.
  • Collaborate with golf course staff to confirm event logistics and obtain necessary information for players.
  • Communicate event details, updates, and results with members and facilities in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work with event volunteers to provide appropriate information for their successful execution of events.
  • Assist with other events as needed including but not limited to the Weekend Net Tour, Senior Series, and Mixed Team programs.
  • Track and report on participation, tournament results, satisfaction reports as needed.
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and administrative needs of the Joy of Golf program.
  • Assist with additional administrative or program-related tasks as needed.
  • Provide additional Operations Department support as assigned
  • Respond to member inquiries and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Support safe work habits and a safe working environment at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned, including professional development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • GED and/or 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of golf tournament formats and the rules of golf.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and a strong work ethic
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, strong communication and organizational skills.
  • NCGA/USGA rules certified within the first 2-3 years of employment (if not already).
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented work environment as well as work well individually with general supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other employees of the NCGA. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and provide proof of insurance. The job requires travel as necessary with overnight stays.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous experience with Blue Golf Software.
  • Knowledge of and passion for the game of golf (strongly preferred).

WORK SCHEDULE:
  • During the tournament off-season, the schedule is typically Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.
  • During the tournament season, nights and weekends will be required, with the ability to flex schedule as appropriate.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This is a full-time, Exempt position, with a starting salary in the range of $70,300 to $75,000 annually. Some clothing will be provided, with the employee expected to source and maintain a high-standard of attire at all times. Benefit package includes health, dental and vision insurance. Dependents may be added with premiums paid by the employee. Participation in the company's 401k plan after one full year of employment. PTO, holidays, meals, and golf benefits also included.
