Athletics serve as an extension of the classroom and a powerful opportunity to influence students and shape sports culture.  Athletes are challenged to pursue the gift of sports with Christian character and compete courageously with teammates. 

Boys Golf Program

The boys golf program at Holland Christian began in 1930 as one of our first organized athletic teams. The program currently competes in the Ottawa-Kent Conference in the OK Black Division and has earned three conference championships since joining the conference in 2003 with the most recent being in the spring of 2026. Holland Christian partners with Winding Creek Golf Course, which is a local 27-hole facility for both our boys and girls programs.  In 2021, an onsite golf simulator was installed for students to have out-of-season opportunities to practice at the high school building.             

Position Description

Holland Christian seeks a boys head varsity golf coach who will lead, coordinate and cultivate a Christ-centered, competitive golf program for the 2027spring season and beyond.  The ideal candidate demonstrates strong Christian character, ability to connect well with students, technical competency for the sport, a commitment to the program, and holistic student-athlete development.  

Position Qualifications

Christian Character

Stable and controlled during challenging situations that do not go as planned.

Purposeful and able to communicate the why of coaching from a Christian perspective.  

Others-Centered and passionate about the Kingdom of God growing through selfless actions.   

Connect Well

Demanding, but positive with student-athletes to create a warm environment for growth. 

Recognize the beauty found in sports and the identities of student-athletes beyond sports.  

Communicate well with administration, coaches, parents, but especially with student-athletes.  

Experience & Competence

Focus on the process of athlete development and the daily disciplines needed to prepare well.  

Supportive of year round performance training and opportunities for multiple sports for athletes.

Experienced with the ability to lead all levels of athletes in the program in both skill and scheme.   

Strong Commitment   

Passionate and excited to prepare well for all aspects of directing and serving the program.  

Display a competitive spirit and high expectation for coaching growth and student growth.  

Use resources stewardly with a strong ability to advocate for beneficial program resources for athletes.
