Job description

General Summary This is a technical supervisory position assisting the Golf Course Superintendent with the overall maintenance operation at one of BREC's Golf Courses. Requirements and Job Specifications Education Required: H.S. diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Vo-tech school diploma or associates degree. Area of Study (major) Preferred: Turf mgmt., horticulture, or in Science related Discipline Certification(s) Required: LA Chemical applicators license must be obtained within (6) months of hire date. Preferred: In addition to chemical license, member of GCSAA or LMGCSAA or equivalent License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license

Years Relevant Work Experience: 3 years' experience in landscape maintenance, athletic field maintenance, golf maintenance or personnel management with at least one year supervisory experience. Preferred: 5 or more years related experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of turf grass culture & maintenance Experience with turf maintenance equipment & irrigation systems Keen eye for detail and ability to prioritize work Skill in the operation of light to heavy golf maintenance equipment Basic computer skills The ability to communicate in Spanish is not required but is viewed as advantageous.

Ability to train staff and develop staff on technical tasks Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to operate a BREC vehicle to perform the essential duties. Functions and Duties Essential Functions and Duties: Assists the Golf Course Superintendent with the overall golf course maintenance operation.

Makes assignments and supervises daily work of maintenance employees. Instructs and trains staff in correct operation of golf maintenance equipment. Performs, assigns, and supervises equipment repair, maintenance and operation.

Performs, assigns, and supervises the application of chemicals and fertilizers. Performs, assigns, and supervises special projects like drainage and irrigation improvements. Purchases supplies and materials daily according to BREC procedures.

Trains and helps manage the training program. Secondary Job Duties: Assists in maintaining the chemical/fertilization application records and MSDS inventory records. Assists and maintains daily logs and employee attendance records.

Assists and maintains equipment, tool, and office inventories. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.
