CABOT CITRUS FARMS

Position Overview

As a Host/Server Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for guests, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment they arrive. Your primary responsibility is to greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and ensure that guests are seated in a timely and efficient manner. You will work closely with the waitstaff and management to ensure smooth operations, communicate guest preferences, and address any inquiries or special requests. The Host is an essential part of creating a positive first impression and ensuring that guests have a pleasant and enjoyable experience from start to finish โ€” staying proactive, supportive, and ready to pitch in across multiple areas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests as they arrive at the restaurant or venue.
  • Manage reservations and walk-ins, ensuring that guests are seated promptly.
  • Answer the phone and respond to guest inquiries, including booking reservations and providing information about the menu and restaurant services.
  • Communicate with the kitchen and waitstaff to ensure smooth flow and seating arrangements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front-of-house area, including the host stand and waiting area.
  • Handle guest concerns or requests and ensure they are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure guests are comfortable while waiting for a table, offering menus or drinks when appropriate.
  • Monitor the dining room and assist with guest seating, taking note of any special preferences or needs.
  • Uphold restaurant policies, including guest safety and health regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of dining areas and bathrooms.
  • Run food from the kitchen to tables quickly and efficiently.
  • Accurately place dishes using seat numbers to maintain service precision.
  • Communicate clearly with servers and kitchen staff to ensure orders are delivered as intended
  • Assist with pre-bussing and clearing plates between courses.
  • Reset tables promptly and to Grange Hall presentation standards.
  • Refill water and assist with general guest needs when appropriate.
  • Assist bartenders by bar backingโ€” restocking ice, juices, glassware, supplies, etc.
  • Retrieve items from storage or our cargo unit upon request.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and/or experience in a related field preferred.โ€ฏ
  • Experience with information systems and inventory management.โ€ฏ
  • Friendly, professional, and customer-focused attitude.
  • Previous customer service or host experience is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with composure and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of basic restaurant operations and etiquette is beneficial.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and approachable demeanor at all times.



Work Conditions

  • Work in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
