Job description

Pay: From $19.50 per hour - Bartenders at HGC are paid a generous hourly rate as the primary form of compensation. Staff may receive tips on occasion, but tips are not to be expected in this role.

HGC is looking for friendly and enthusiastic bartenders to join our team. Are you someone who will provide an excellent member experience and create classic and innovative drinks which exceed members' needs and expectations? If so, we are interested in hearing from you! Previous Bartending experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to train.

The Hartford Golf Club is a private country club located in West Hartford. It is the premier club in the Hartford region offering a rich tradition of sports, fine dining, and family-focused activities. The 30,000 square foot Clubhouse sits on 256 acres of impeccably maintained grounds.

The Club has an extensive selection of world-class facilities for all ages, including a 27-hole golf course, 9 Har Tru tennis courts, 4 international squash courts, 6 outdoor platform tennis courts, 3 pickleball courts, 3 pools, 4 lane duckpin bowling alley, and a state-of-the-art fitness facility.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for members
  • Interact with members, take orders and serve meals and drinks
  • Assess member needs and preferences and make recommendations
  • Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails
  • Plan and present bar menu
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
  • Stay guest focused and ensure an excellent guest experience
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations
  • LOCKING UP AND ARMING BUILDING for 5 p.m. - close (approximately 11:00 p.m.) shift
  • Shifts are generally either 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. - OR -3 p.m. - 8 p.m./ 9 p.m. - OR- 5 p.m. to close - flexibility is a must! This shift examples are for both weekdays AND weekends.
  • Answering phone and taking to go food orders
  • Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays
  • Entering all transactions into POS
  • Following opening and closing job duties


Skills

  • Previous working experience as a bartender preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing and serving drinks
  • Computer literacy
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean

Schedule:

We are open 7 days a week to better serve our members, and we schedule our staff based on those needs. Although not expected to work all hours, we need flexibility and wiliness to work as needed on the following days/times:

  • Holidays
  • Monday to Sunday
  • Night shift
  • Day shift
  • Weekends


Experience:

  • Bartending: 2 years preferred
  • liquor knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Bartending: 1 year (Required)
