Kentucky State Parks is pleased to offer an opportunity to maintain and oversee a beautiful Eastern Kentuckygolf course designed by Arthur Hills in Louisa, Kentucky. We are currently accepting applications for the GolfCourse Superintendent position at Yatesville Lake State Park Golf Course. This is a full-time position,offering numerous benefits with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and if you inquire about this job do not forgetto ask about the Department of Parks "Park Familiarization Program" for full-time employees!
This position performs the duties of Golf Course Superintendent for this picturesque golf course. Thecandidate with the appropriate experience and education will lead a group of golf course maintenance personnelto perform all tasks necessary to maintain and improve a very good golf course. This position requires amotivated individual that will employ a "hands-on" leadership style, and someone that enjoys performing allthe tasks required to present our guests with an exceptional golfing experience. The putting greens are USGAspecification L93 bentgrass, Latitude 36 bermudagrass tees and fairways, and cool season roughs. Total BetterBilly Bunker renovation was completed in 2025.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Staff training and supervision

Some of the skills we are looking for are:
  • Experience operating all equipment and performing all tasks associated with the maintenance of a golfcourse.
  • Creating and managing a budget and managing an agronomic plan.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Kentucky Pesticide License.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management.
  • Leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
  • Preventative maintenance experience.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with an associate degree in plant science, turf management or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:One year experience as a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Three years as a golf course superintendent or golf course assistant superintendent in addition to a Certificate of Turfgrass Management from an accredited university can substitute for the required education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License within six months of employment. The N-18 Pesticide Applicators License required by this position can be obtained by passing the test administered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed outside in a variety of climatic conditions. Work involves use of potentially toxic materials such as insecticides, fungicides, and fertilizers.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 9 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
