Job description

TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm is a private par-70, 7,107-yard championship golf course located in Potomac MD, just under 20 miles from the White House. The Club has hosted over 20 championships for the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions and the Korn Ferry Tour since opening in 1986. Following an historic renovation by PGA TOUR Design Services in 2008, TPC Potomac has earned a reputation as a formidable test for the world's best players.

The Banquet Bartender is to courteously and expeditiously prepare member/guest beverage requests using standard measuring devices and according to the formulas approved by the Food and Beverage Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Thorough knowledge of beverage preparation, bartending operational procedures and bar sanitation procedures as would normally be acquired through at least one year of similar experience

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Set up the bar in function area in accordance with TPC Standards. Ensure par stock levels of required beverage inventory per Banquet Event Order (if applicable)
  • Ensure bar and immediate bar area is clean and properly stocked at all times. This may include ice is full and fresh, proper glassware is on hand, fresh beverage napkins are available, bar area is free of debris, empty glassware is promptly removed and brought to service area for cleaning
  • Assume responsibility for security of bar area. Do not allow any unauthorized members/guests behind bar, do not allow anyone other that those authorized to dispense and or prepare alcoholic beverages
  • Make and serve beverages as requested in a friendly, courteous and timely manner following TPC standards. Follows proper pouring and garnishing standards in order to maintain beverage costs
  • Advise supervisor of any member/guest complaints so they can be immediately and professionally resolved
  • Ensure compliance of operating guidelines as it relates to R.A.M. or Tips programs, as well as operating within all State and Federal Laws, Rules and regulations relating to Alcohol, Cigarette and Tobacco Division
  • Attend pre-banquet meetings as requested by the Food and Beverage Director or Supervisor
  • Follow set procedures for properly identifying members/guests legally allowed to be served alcoholic beverages
  • Understand and comply with state liquor laws as they relate to serving liquor to the public. Inform the Food and Beverage Director and/or General Manager of members/guests who may be intoxicated. Any member or guest who is clearly intoxicated is NOT to be served
  • Understands members and guests' comments and complaints and forwards that information immediately to supervisor
  • Close and break down the bar at the designated times. Reconcile beverage consumption and inventory according to TPC procedures. Clean bar and bar area thoroughly; wipe surface areas, empty ice, return all unopened inventory to storage. Remove and store all equipment and supplies to proper areas
  • Prepare and serve beer, wine and cocktails according to specifications prescribed by standard operating procedures
  • Handle and count cash, make accurate change and record sales as prescribed by standard operating procedures
  • Operate within established guidelines, policies, standards and constraints as set by PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties, Inc
  • Ensure that service procedures are adhered to as outlined in the TPC Brand Standards
  • Understand and follow procedures to maintain proper sanitation, conforming to all jurisdictional and club-imposed regulations and rules regarding food service sanitation
  • Assist other employees as needed with banquet services
  • Serve beverages professionally and courteously
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned

Pay Rate: $7.5 per hour
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; kneel; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
An essential function of the job is to be able to comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.
