Controller
Job Specs:
Well established entertainment venue seeks a Controller to join their dynamic team.
Responsibilities:
Accounting
  • Overseeing and managing completion of:
    • Record point of sales transactions, review and recommend internal controls for multiple POS systems (Archtics, Eventbrite, and Square etc.)
    • Record Cash Receipts for Premium Seating, Tours, Golf Course, Renovation, and General Operating Accounts
    • Reconcile monthly bank statements for Premium Seating, Tours, Golf Course, Renovation, Payroll, and General Operating Accounts to review with Sr. Finance Manager
    • Assist with Accounts Payable invoice coding, batch review and check payments. Flagging issues and resolutions tracking
    • Payroll and Benefit administration and compliance reporting
    • Legacy Foundation daily transaction processing (AP/AR, all reconciliations)
  • Directing Events settlements and contractual commitments with clients
  • Continuing evaluation of internal controls and lead audit narratives and successful completion of audits
  • Administration of policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP and Internal RBOC/City of Pasadena Policies

Finance
  • Oversee and manage the completion of:
  • Data analysis and projections in areas such as Cash, Payroll, Expenses, Events and Golf Course performance etc.
  • Report preparation, variance understanding, and explanations
  • Lead financial reporting function
  • Implement current policies and procedures for non-profit organization compliance, tax, and financial reporting
  • Compile and analyze data for the annual budget and 5-year proforma
  • Partner with the CFO to prepare and deliver reports for committees, boards, and the city of Pasadena

Managing Staff
  • Cross-training staff in analytical skill development, problem solving, and workload management
  • Providing timely performance evaluations and feedback to staff
  • Overseeing and managing workload for staff to meet deadlines (i.e., prioritizing, assigning work, setting deadlines, etc.)
  • Ensures staff adheres to department and company policies

Qualifications
  • 5-10+ years in an accounting management role
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • MAS 90 and QuickBooks preferred
  • Ability to handle high work volume in a fast paced, nimble work environment
  • Solution-oriented and takes initiative to move the work forward
  • Detail-oriented but able to summarize large amounts of data and identify high-level themes (makes sense of complex data)
  • Takes ownership of work and is a good decision-maker
  • Questions outliers and stale dated items
  • Holds others accountable to outcomes and doesn't avoid having difficult conversations
