Job description

Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Golf Grounds, Assistant Superintendent, or Golf Specialist, the Golf Maintenance III position is responsible for routine maintenance work, daily set up, and the mowing involved in the care and upkeep of the golf course and clubhouse grounds, equipment, and facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain golf course area, sand bunkers, and ornamental beds, shrubs, and trees, including but not limited to mowing, weeding, planting and watering, mulching, and pruning.
  2. Operate and maintain small maintenance vehicles, mowers, and other landscape maintenance power equipment.
  3. Assist in the daily setup of the golf course including cup changing, tee placement, and other related duties.
  4. Operate tractors, and other large equipment.
  5. Provide support to special projects.
  6. Assist with operating the irrigation system and hand watering.
  7. Garbage collection, litter picking and cleaning of bathroom facilities.
  8. Demonstrate and support District customer service standards.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preventative maintenance on golf course equipment as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate landscape maintenance tools and power equipment
  • Understanding of the game of golf.
  • Ability to work independently in day-to-day operations with general direction from supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of grounds maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Considerations:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Subject to both office and outside environmental conditions.
  • Subject to modified/flexible work schedules during high volume work periods including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing ≤ 50 lbs. on a weekly basis. Lifting assistance is required when lifting > 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity and strength to operate power-operated equipment and machines.
  • Exposure to pesticides, chemicals, dust, fumes, dirt, loud noise, and insect bites.
  • Prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, and standing.
  • Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position
