Job description

Since opening in 1987, Blue Heron has been a standout in the Rochester golf scene. With insights from golf legend Jack Nicklaus, the course was crafted to challenge players with its strategic layout and unique designโ€”no two holes run parallel. Fully open to the public, Blue Heron Golf Club continues its tradition of great golf, welcoming players to experience a course shaped by legends. Conveniently located just east of Rochester, Blue Heron offers the perfect blend of championship golf and scenic beauty. Under new ownership the Club house was completely re-modeled in 2025. Blue Heron Golf Club historically has been an 18 hole golf course, starting in 2026 Blue Heron is transitioning to a 9 hole golf course.

Job Description

The Golf Club Superintendent position is a twelve (12) month position. Manage the health and performance of all turfgrass. Supervise, hire, train, and schedule the grounds crew team to ensure efficient and effective operations. Team would consist of 5 members. Operate and maintain the irrigation system, as well as the pump station. Irrigation system is original from when the course was built. Oversee the maintenance and repair of all groundskeeping equipment.

Apply pesticides and fertilizers as needed, ensuring compliance with all regulations (Pesticide Applicator License, or ability to obtain promptly, is required). Monitor and manage turfgrass diseases, pests, and water usage. Ability to remove felled trees due to age and wind Coordinates snow removal and winter maintenance activities. Determines when the course should be closed due to weather conditions.

Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment for all staff. Oversees maintaining grounds at adjacent company property Job Requirements 3-5 years' experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant. Proven experience in golf course maintenance and management, with a strong background in turfgrass science. Expertise in irrigation systems, bentgrass, turfgrass diseases, and equipment operation/maintenance. Leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a small team.

Valid Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain promptly). Valid Driver's License - Strong organizational and communication skills. The compensation package will be based on the experience of the candidate with a salary range of $80,000 to $100,000. The Golf Club Superintendent position is a twelve (12) month position.
