Golf caddies are individuals who assist golfers during a round of golf. Their main responsibilities include carrying the golfer's bag, providing advice on club selection and course strategy, maintaining the clubs and balls, and helping to read greens. Caddies often possess a deep understanding of the golf course and can offer valuable insights into weather conditions, yardages, and hazards. They play a crucial role in enhancing the golfer's overall performance and enjoyment of the game.

What Does a Golf Caddy Do?

The job of a golf caddy is to carry the bag of clubs of a golfer as they complete a round at a golf course. In this career, you often advise the golfer about hazards or challenges of a hole. You may offer advice about club selection as well. As a golf caddy, you may work at one course or tour with a pro golfer. Your responsibilities vary widely depending on the golfer and what circuit they play. If you work for a professional golfer, you must travel extensively for long stretches at a time. If you work for a specific golf course, you can expect to work seasonally unless you live in an area that is warm year round.

Effective communication, staying organized, and maintaining a high level of physical fitness can help mitigate these challenges. Building a strong rapport with the golfer and staying attentive to course conditions also contribute to a successful caddying experience, especially during high-pressure tournament play.
