Who We're Looking For

GHD is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer - Transit Design Lead to support the continued growth of our Canadian Transportation practice.

This role is suited to an experienced civil design leader with 15+ years of experience delivering large-scale transit and transportation infrastructure projects, including:

  • Rail corridors

  • Roadways and highways

  • Multi-modal corridors (LRT / BRT)

  • Site development and linear infrastructure

You'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Ontario, Canada, North America, and GHD's global network-bringing technical excellence, leadership, and coordination to complex projects.

Your Role

Working within a high-performing and collaborative environment, you will:

  • Lead civil design for track grading, roadways, and multi-modal corridors, including median LRT/BRT alignments and supporting site / linear infrastructure

  • Manage and coordinate civil deliverables from concept through detailed design, using 3D design platforms such as Civil 3D

  • Lead and support small teams of engineers and designers, driving design quality, standards, and delivery on complex projects

  • Provide technical mentorship and supervision to junior engineers, EITs, and technicians

  • Review and oversee models, drawings, quantities, specifications, technical memoranda, and contract documentation with minimal supervision

  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Project Directors, and Business Group Leaders, supporting scope, schedule, and budget alignment

  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality, integrated project outcomes

  • Lead coordination with subconsultants, municipalities, utilities, agencies, and clients

  • Support projects delivered under Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build procurement models

  • Apply and promote GHD BIM and Quality Management standards at the project level

  • Contribute to the advancement of standard civil details, tools, training, and lessons learned across the practice

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • Ontario P.Eng. designation (required)

  • 15+ years of experience delivering transportation and transit infrastructure projects

  • Demonstrated success leading civil design on complex, multidisciplinary projects

  • Strong understanding of local agency codes, standards, and practices

  • Experience working in a 3D/BIM-enabled design environment

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D (MicroStation experience considered an asset)

  • Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, tight schedules, and parallel projects

  • Strong attention to detail with effective problem-solving and organizational skills

  • Familiarity with BIM collaboration platforms such as ProjectWise, BIM 360, or Autodesk Construction Cloud (preferred, not required)
