JOB TITLE: Study Abroad Intern
LOCATION: St. Paul Campus
PAY RATE: $17.70
Job Description:
Study Abroad Interns bring their global experiences to campus-connecting with curious students, sharing tips, and helping prepare students to go abroad! Interns work a set schedule of 10 hours a week taking on projects like events, marketing, outreach, content creation, and office support. The four 2026-2027 interns will work as a team and independently on a variety of projects throughout the year. This is a collaborative and creative role with plenty of ways to make an impact!
Outcomes:
- Gain valuable, marketable skills in advising, project and event management, marketing and outreach, and public speaking
- Foster more in-depth knowledge of the study abroad field
- Gain experience in an office setting and develop professional relationships with Office of Study Abroad (OSA) staff, as well as engaging with other Global Learning and Strategy (GLAS) staff and student workers
- Build intercultural competence through tools like the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and additional professional development opportunities
- Opportunities to reflect on and further learn from own study abroad experience
Responsibilities May Include:
- Serve as a point of contact for prospective and future study abroad students:
- Offer initial guidance on study abroad programs and the application process, helping students explore options and make informed decisions
- Assist students with pre and post-acceptance steps including application and deadline reminders, the course approval process, application portal, identifying resources, and affiliate program questions, etc.
- Present at Study Abroad 101 and FYEx sessions, program-specific info sessions, and group meetings
- Promptly and thoroughly respond to emails in the OSA Inbox
- Study Abroad Fairs and J-Term Open House: Thursday, September 19th; Thursday, February 18th; March 18th
- Study abroad orientations in November and April
- Represent Study Abroad at admissions, campus partner, and club events
- Manage OSA social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
- Create graphics and videos in Canva
- Add alt-text to previous study abroad photos and captions to videos and help improve accessibility across platforms
- Maintain and update LinkTree, program brochures, images, and content on OSA platforms
- Assist with other larger scale marketing projects, including video production, website management, etc.
- Provide general office administrative support
- Collaborate with front desk and OISS student workers to update office calendars
- Help manage application database-including running reports, updating materials, compiling information, etc.
- London Business Semester Advising - one intern position is a LBS program alum
- 5 hours per week (of 10 hours total) dedicated to LBS program
- Present at London Business Semester pre-departure meetings and London Launch Sessions
- Must be available during convo hour on: October 13, October 29, November 17
- Hold drop-in advising hours for prospective and future LBS students
- Create student-facing resources for the program
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
- St. Thomas undergraduate student in good standing
- At least one study abroad experience, semester or J-Term
- Able to work the entire 2026-2027 school year
- Ability to work consistent scheduled hours in person
- Ability to commit to working at study abroad orientations and fairs
- Enthusiasm for sharing your study abroad experience with other students!

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
