Job description

Burckhardt Compression Inc. is seeking a results-driven Business Developer to lead the growth and market expansion of our TrueGEMยฎ product line throughout the North American aftermarket. In this strategic role, you will drive revenue growth, increase market penetration, and identify new business opportunities within the installed compressor base.
As the subject matter expert for the TrueGEM portfolio, you will leverage market intelligence, customer insights, and data analysis to expand product adoption, strengthen customer relationships, and support future portfolio development. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Service, Engineering, and Product Management teams to deliver innovative aftermarket solutions and create long-term value for customers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded professional who combines technical expertise with a passion for business development and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development & Growth Strategy
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the customer base, installed fleet, and application landscape relevant to the TrueGEM portfolio.
  • Analyze installed compressor populations by type, region, and market segment to identify market penetration gaps and growth opportunities.
  • Translate customer feedback, service information, and field insights into actionable market intelligence.
  • Identify, prioritize, and pursue growth opportunities across existing and prospective customers.
  • Develop and execute annual business development strategies aligned with TrueGEM growth
  • objectives.

Commercial Development & Sales Support
  • Increase penetration of the current TrueGEM portfolio across targeted markets and customer segments.
  • Partner with Sales teams by providing application expertise, value propositions, customer targeting strategies, and opportunity prioritization.
  • Develop pricing recommendations and value-based positioning strategies to enhance adoption and profitability.
  • Assist account managers and regional sales teams in developing strategic growth plans for key customers.
  • Track and report pipeline activity, opportunity conversion rates, and market penetration metrics.

Market Intelligence & Portfolio Expansion
  • Monitor competitive offerings, pricing strategies, and market trends affecting aftermarket products and services.
  • Identify market gaps, customer challenges, and emerging opportunities that support expansion into additional compressor types, applications, and industries.
  • Provide market requirements, customer insights, and business cases to support future product and portfolio development.
  • Support market validation activities and business case development for new opportunities.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Service, Engineering, and Product Management teams to accelerate commercial opportunities and improve customer outcomes.
  • Support go-to-market initiatives, sales training programs, and product documentation.
  • Facilitate feedback loops from the field to drive continuous product and portfolio improvements.
  • Represent Burckhardt Compression at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and trade associations to strengthen market presence and generate new business opportunities.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline; technical background strongly preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience in high-speed reciprocating compressors.
  • Experience with Gemini compressors, rotating equipment, and/or aftermarket solutions is highly preferred.
  • Proven success in business development, market development, sales, product management, or aftermarket services within the industrial, energy, or rotating equipment industries.
  • Experience working within a global B2B environment preferred.
