Job description

Summary: Quality Assurance Specialist is a multi-functional position responsible for researching, monitoring line checks, and reporting to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across operations.


Essential Functions:

Must Have Manufacturing Quality Assurance Experience!!

Good communication skills; verbal and written

Strong organizational skills

Good time management skills

Adept at managing competing priorities

Good computer skills is a must, including word, outlook, and excel

Must be comfortable working within an ERP System

Lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds as required

Walk, bend, twist, kneel and use of hand and fingers on a regular basis


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years minimum quality assurance experience
  • Self-motivated.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Ability and patience to teach / train other employees.
  • Must be able to perform in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to organize, prioritize and complete a variety of duties on a daily basis.
  • Basic knowledge and skills in operation of a computer.
  • Reading, interpreting and applying codes and regulations (customer specific, cGMP and FDA).
  • Be able to initiate and use independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Communicate and act effectively with co-workers, supervisors and employees from other departments.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.


Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follows Company Safety Policies
  • Follows Company Employee Handbook
  • Complies With Annual Training
  • Processes Incoming Material Releases in ERP System
  • Processes & Publishes Finish Good Audits
  • Processes & Publishes Customer Daily Releases
  • Performs Line Checks & Notes Discrepancies
  • Performs Color Testing & Publishes Results
  • Supports SQF/GMP/Document Control
  • GMP Audit Team Member
  • Investigates customer complaints by obtaining paperwork and samples; interprets data and test samples to determine issues. Assists or writes corrective action reports for the complaint.
  • Interacts with customers and all company departments.
  • Ensures the customer specifications and expectations are current on the production paperwork for the weekly set-up.
  • Manages and loads updated customer specifications into programs.
  • Weekly staging of production paperwork for use on the production floor.
  • Prepares production paperwork folders and files for new SKUs. Performs physical monthly audits and issues reports in the hold area to QA.
  • Maintains inventory of plant calibrated items in a spreadsheet
  • Maintains a spreadsheet of all metal detection test devices (wands, balls, and spheres)
  • Maintains an appropriate level of operating supplies and places requisitions when needed.
  • Looks for opportunities to improve processes.
  • Performs laboratory sampling and analysis of incoming ingredients, intermediate product and final product.
  • Performs weekly swab testing and monthly environmental testing.
  • Interprets certificate of analysis / conformance and other test records.
  • Conducts effective in-process inspections.
  • Maintains Company quality standards.
  • Responsible for reporting food safety issues to management and/ or Quality Assurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
