Job description

Job Title: Program Director Residency Program / Staff Psychiatrist (0.6 FTE / 0.4 FTE)
Position Summary
The Program Director / Staff Psychiatrist provides integrated leadership and clinical services across Graduate Medical Education and Behavioral Health clinical operations. This role is structured as 0.6 FTE Program Director for the Psychiatry Residency Program and 0.4 FTE Clinical Psychiatrist supporting inpatient, outpatient, and behavioral health consultation services at Macon Medical.
The Program Director (PD) provides leadership and administrative oversight for the Residency Program, ensuring full compliance with ACGME requirements and maintaining a high-quality learning environment. In the clinical role, the physician delivers direct patient care, supervises residents and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and collaborates with Macon Medical teams on behavioral health consults.
Key Responsibilities: (0.6 FTE)
Provide overall leadership of the Psychiatry Residency Program.
- Design and conduct the program in a fashion consistent with the needs of the community, the mission of the Sponsoring Institution, and the mission of the program.
- Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency domains
- Submit accurate and complete information required and requested by the Designated Institutional Official, Graduate Medical Education Committee and ACGME
- Develop and maintain the overall curriculum, rotation schedules, and didactic schedule
- Oversee resident evaluation, promotion, advising, wellness initiatives, and semiannual performance reviews.
- Recruit new residents through institutional and specialty-specific workflows, such as the National Resident Match Program (NRMP)
- Recruit, evaluate, and support faculty; oversee faculty development and participation in scholarly activity.
- Maintain compliance with all ACGME and institutional policies, including but not limited to work hours, supervision, documentation, and reporting.
- Submit required accreditation materials, ADS updates, and program evaluations.
- Promote a culture of scholarship, including participation in teaching, research, and presentations
- Manage resources and collaborate with institutional leadership to ensure effective and fiscally responsible program operations.
- Maintain board certification and obtain professional development as a program director
- Complete other duties as assigned
Clinical Psychiatrist Responsibilities Macon Medical (0.4 FTE)
-Provide direct psychiatric care across Inpatient behavioral health services, Outpatient psychiatric services, and Behavioral health consultation-liaison services for ED and medical patients
-Collaborate with Macon Medical clinical teams to support behavioral health assessments, treatment planning, and continuity of care.
-Supervise and provide clinical oversight for: Psychiatry residents and system Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
-Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and care coordination activities.
-Support resident and APP clinical education through bedside teaching, case review, and supervision.
-Ensure compliance with all applicable clinical, regulatory, and documentation standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Current board certification in Psychiatry by an applicable ABMS or AOA board.
Unrestricted medical license and eligibility for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges in Georgia
Minimum of three (3) years of documented experience in administration and teaching, with preference for experience in Graduate Medical Education.
Demonstrated ability to lead, educate, and mentor residents and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
