Chief Engineer (Hotel Maintenance) – Holiday Inn Express Gulfport

Full Time | Hourly (NonExempt)

Holiday Inn Express Gulfport is seeking a skilled and reliable Chief Engineer to oversee all hotel maintenance and engineering operations. This is a handson role responsible for maintaining the property’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and lifesafety systems, as well as standard hotel laundry equipment.

This position does not supervise a team — it is the primary engineering role for the hotel and is essential to ensuring a safe, wellmaintained, guestready environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on hotel systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firelife safety).
  • Complete preventive maintenance (PM) on guest rooms, public areas, and backofhouse spaces.
  • Maintain and repair standard hotel laundry equipment (washers, dryers).
  • Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and address issues proactively.
  • Maintain accurate logs, PM schedules, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs.
  • Support hotel opening tasks, punch lists, and system commissioning.
  • Ensure all work meets Hilton brand standards and safety regulations.
 What We’re Looking For:
  • 3–5 years of hotel or building maintenance experience
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lifesafety systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities
  • Strong communication and customerservice skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and oncall as needed
  • Reliable transportation
  • High attention to detail and strong problemsolving skills

Preferred (Not Required):

  • HVAC certification
  • CPO, CCE, or CME certifications
  • Experience with Hilton or other major hotel brands
Why You’ll Love Working With Us:
  • You’ll be the expert. As the hotel’s primary engineering professional, you’ll have real ownership over your department and the freedom to make decisions that matter.
  • Brandnew property. Everything is new, clean, modern, and built to Hilton standards — no decadesold equipment or endless backlogs.
  • Hotel travel discounts. Enjoy generous employee hotel discounts across Hilton brands, making personal travel more affordable and fun.
  • Stable, fulltime role. Consistent hours, predictable work, and a longterm home with a growing hospitality group.
  • Supportive leadership. You’ll work with a GM and corporate team who respect the engineering function and give you the tools you need to succeed.
  • Positive, teamfocused culture. We value professionalism, communication, and treating each other with respect — no drama, no chaos.
  • Growth opportunities. As our portfolio expands, strong performers are the first considered for advancement.
  • Competitive pay and benefits. We believe in rewarding skill, reliability, and craftsmanship.

What You'll Bring to the Role (Qualifications)

  • Able to secure and maintain any required licenses, certificates, or permits to perform your role effectively

  • Reliable and committed-you're available when it counts, especially during challenging weather

  • Weekend and holiday availability is a must-hospitality never sleeps

  • Dependable transportation to and from the jobsite-punctuality is your trademark

  • Confident with tech-proficient in office software and mobile devices for communication and reporting

  • Safety-minded-you know the importance of compliance and loss prevention and put it into practice daily

  • Willingness to travel to job sites when needed

  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to follow instructions accurately

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills-you keep calm and fix things fast
