Job description

Rail Loader - VPC 1st Shift
Summary: This position is responsible for loading vehicles into bi-level/tri-level auto racks for delivery to off-loading destination sites in accordance with the guidelines set by the Association of American Railroads and Hyundai GLOVIS transportation and vehicle handling procedures. Must be open to overtime and weekend work.
Responsibilities:

  1. Perform loading operations inside rail cars
  2. Perform job responsibilities in a safe manner following company safety policies and procedures
  3. Drive customer's vehicles of various sizes
  4. Walk, stand, bend, kneel, climb, and balance on railcars
  5. Use of hand tools
  6. Set up store bridge plates
  7. Open, close, and seal rail car door
  8. Ascend and descend railcar ladders (using 4 points of contact) and loading ramps
  9. Work at heights while loading upper rail car levels
  10. Perform loading in accordance to the AAR and Hyundai GLOVIS handling manual
  11. Spot/park vehicle inside rail cars (with training and approval)
  12. Operate loading ramp (with training and approval)
  13. Write down VIN numbers on verification sheet (with training and approval)
  14. Scan vehicle with scanning device (with training and approval)
Other Responsibilities:
  1. Report all hazard/injuries/near misses to van driver or supervisor
  2. Properly wear safety equipment when working in and around rail
  3. Follow rules, regulations, and procedures
  4. Make sound decisions in preventing hazard to yourself and co-workers
  5. Obey lead person/supervisor instructions
  6. Communicate well with co-workers
  7. Perform other departmental duties when needed and as assigned
Knowledge / Skills/ Abilities:
  1. Ability to read and write
  2. Ability to effectively communicate verbally or in writing
  3. Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instruction
  4. Ability to record and verify numbers/characters in length
  5. Ability to work independently and in crew settings
  6. Ability to work in confined quarters
  7. Ability to drive both automatic and standard shift vehicles

Education:
High School Diploma/GED (Required)

  • Able to stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout shift.
  • Ability to Bend, turn, and use peripherals as required to operate equipment safely within company standard operator procedures.
  • Able to lift, stack, and/or pull products off shelves, as well as replenish product, from various heights weighing up to 50 lbs., depending on the location, throughout shift.
  • Able to work in a warehouse environment for up to 8-hour shifts, and any overtime hours if applicable.

The estimated base hourly rate is $21.29 an hour. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that GLOVIS EA reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
