Moog is hiring for a Global Trade Compliance Manager in East Aurora, NY!

As the Global Trade Compliance Manager, you will be a member of the Global Trade Compliance team and an internal stakeholder dedicated to working closely with the Defense Division within our Space and Defense Group (SDG), which is a fast-paced, high-volume business requiring complex trade compliance review.

You will work directly with the Defense Division in their pursuit of both domestic and international business opportunities, developing complex trade compliance strategies, and solutions. You will serve as a critical stakeholder for the business while facilitating compliance with trade-related rules and regulations.

You will also serve as the liaison between the SDG Regional Trade Compliance Manager and a diverse global network of stakeholders, within functions such as Business Development, Supply Chain, Contracts, Engineering, and Finance. You will drive alignment, foster collaboration, and help determine priorities and goals from the SDG Operating Group for better utilization of Trade Compliance resources.

Effective communication skills and drive to learn is a must in this role to establish priorities not only within the various Business Units, but also across the SDG Operating Group, both from the U.S. and International perspective to ensure they are meeting global Trade Compliance regulations.

Ideally, you will have a strong background in both U.S. and Global Trade laws and regulations. Moog will consider candidates that have a strong U.S. Trade Compliance background and has the initiative and drive to dive-in and become knowledgeable in Trade Compliance Rules and Regulations for other countries as needed. You should be able to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and resourcefulness to ensure compliance goals are identified and achieved.

You will have a hybrid work schedule at our Corporate Headquarters in East Aurora, NY.

To qualify for the Global Trade Compliance Manager, here is what we would expect you to bring to Moog...

  • Typically, bachelor's degree; advanced degree in International Business or Global Business or Trade-related certifications and / or Engineering Degree highly desirable.

  • Over seven (7) years of direct experience with export / import tasks and regulations

  • Over three (3) years in program/project management.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated familiarity, with preference for prior experience applying Trade Compliance requirements in a defense technology environment.

  • Demonstrated Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in U.S. Export / Import regulations including, but not limited to the ITAR, EAR, ATF and OFAC. SME International Trade Compliance experience a plus.

  • Experience using ERP and Trade specific tools such as SAP, GTS, OCR EASE, SNAP-R, DECCS, and ATF electronic submission process.

  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. MS Project / Planner, Azure Dev Ops / Jira, PowerPoint and data / BI tools (e.g. Excel, power BI/Tableau).

  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills across diverse cultures and time zones.

  • Strong speaking skills; must be able to train, listen, and educate others.

  • Strong documentation discipline for rigorous follow-through on issues and actions.

  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally; potentially 2 times per month in support of the business.

  • Must live local to the Buffalo, NY area to work on-site.

  • Advanced degree or certifications preferred (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP).

As the Global Trade Compliance Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in business development meetings, defense strategy meetings, and senior leadership meetings, working directly with the business.

  • Provide guidance to the business and for the development of trade-related solutions for the business to achieve success in its pursuit of various business opportunities.

  • Research and make recommendations on the trade parameters for which Moog SDG needs to do business in countries outside their host country.

  • Guide the business to comply with trade laws surrounding new locations.

  • Collect high-volume trade-related requirements resulting from the defense meetings and discussions; prioritize the need and review with the Group Trade Compliance Team for the timely collection of trade compliance authorizations. This will include the creation of metrics and automation.

  • Assist the Global Trade Compliance Director with acquisitions and divestitures.

  • Prioritize trade requirements with the Global Trade Compliance Director and Group Trade Compliance Manager.

  • Apply Trade Compliance Knowledge to a defense aerospace manufacturing environment.

  • Obtain, facilitate, perform, document, and record commodity and technology classifications for the Defense Division using Moog authorized systems.

  • Support the Global Trade Compliance Director and the Group Trade Compliance Manager with investigations, projects, and other trade-related issues as needed.

  • Craft and submit to the US government, and for the implementation of complex license applications / authorizations and Technology Control Plans for the Defense Division.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $120,000.00-$160,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
