We are seeking an experienced and business-minded Director of Global Compliance to lead and continuously strengthen Bourns' worldwide compliance program. This highly visible leadership role will partner with business and functional leaders across the organization to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and ethical business practices while supporting the Company's strategic objectives.
The Director of Global Compliance will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing Bourns' global compliance framework, including export and trade compliance, ethics, anti-corruption, privacy, third-party compliance, investigations, and regulatory risk management. This role will work cross-functionally with Legal, Human Resources, Finance, Internal Audit, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Information Technology teams throughout the organization.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical compliance expertise with practical business judgment, serving as a trusted advisor while driving a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct across Bourns' global operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and continuously improve Bourns' global compliance and ethics program.
  • Serve as a key compliance leader overseeing export controls, trade compliance, anti-corruption, privacy, sanctions, policy governance, investigations, and regulatory risk management.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, training programs, and internal controls that promote compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance and regulatory risks across global operations.
  • Partner with business leaders to integrate compliance requirements into day-to-day business activities.
  • Oversee third-party due diligence, supplier and customer compliance reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Direct compliance monitoring, audits, investigations, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Develop meaningful compliance metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools to support risk-based decision making.
  • Monitor global regulatory developments and recommend proactive compliance enhancements.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel, consultants, and international business partners on emerging compliance matters.
  • Prepare presentations and compliance updates for senior leadership and executive management.
  • Champion a culture of ethics, transparency, and accountability throughout the organization.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, International Relations, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline preferred.

Experience
  • Seven to ten years of experience in export controls, trade compliance, regulatory compliance, risk management, audit, or related compliance functions.
  • Experience supporting a global manufacturing organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of export controls, trade compliance, ethics and compliance programs, anti-corruption regulations, sanctions, investigations, third-party due diligence, and policy governance.
  • Experience developing practical solutions that effectively manage compliance risks while supporting business objectives.
  • Familiarity with compliance management systems, ERP systems, training platforms, due diligence tools, and case management systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within electronics, semiconductor, aerospace, defense, automotive, telecommunications, industrial, medical device, or technology manufacturing industries.
  • Experience managing compliance matters across multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Experience working with regional leaders, outside counsel, and global business stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications related to compliance, trade controls, or ethics programs are a plus.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Hands-on approach to solving issues, drafting policies, educating and auditing.
