A Snapshot of Your Day (Position Overview)
As a Cost Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial performance of Siemens Energy's manufacturing operations by providing accurate inventory accounting, cost analysis, and financial reporting. Your day may include analyzing inventory transactions, monitoring product cost variances, preparing balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, and partnering with production and operations teams to resolve inventory-related issues. You will collaborate with finance, manufacturing, supply chain, and audit teams to ensure financial accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and support informed business decisions. This role offers the opportunity to build a strong foundation in manufacturing finance while contributing to continuous process improvements and operational excellence.
How You'll Make an Impact (Responsibilities)
  • Prepare inventory-related journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly close activities while ensuring the accuracy of inventory accounting and financial reporting
  • Analyze inventory balances, product cost variances, moving average costs, excess and obsolete inventory, NCR stock, and other key inventory accounts to identify financial risks and improvement opportunities
  • Partner with Production Planning, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to investigate inventory discrepancies, resolve COGI issues, maintain material costs in SAP, and improve inventory accuracy
  • Prepare and distribute financial reports, quotation tools, ad hoc analyses, and management reporting for U.S. and global stakeholders to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Support internal and external audit activities by maintaining accurate financial documentation and providing requested inventory and accounting information
  • Utilize SAP, Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, and other reporting tools to automate analyses, improve reporting capabilities, and support continuous process improvement initiatives
What You Bring (Requirements)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business with an Accounting emphasis, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing finance, or a related accounting or finance role
  • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, financial reporting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, SAP or ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems and reporting tools such as Alteryx or Tableau, or the ability to quickly learn new financial reporting and digitalization technologies
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems proactively, and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
