What are GLCs?

GLC stands for Government-Linked Company. These are companies in which the government has a direct or indirect controlling stake, typically through shareholdings or special rights. GLCs play a significant role in the economy, particularly in countries like Malaysia and Singapore, by contributing to national development and economic growth. The government often uses these companies to implement policies, manage strategic industries, and drive key initiatives. Employment in a GLC can offer stability, benefits, and opportunities for career advancement.

What are some common challenges faced by GLC (Government-Linked Company) employees, and how can they be addressed?

Employees in Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) often navigate a unique blend of public and private sector expectations. Common challenges include balancing regulatory compliance with the need for innovation, adapting to organizational changes driven by government policies, and managing stakeholder interests. To address these, employees benefit from strong communication skills, adaptability, and staying informed about policy shifts. Collaborating across departments and participating in professional development programs can also help individuals thrive within GLCs.
